Ever watch a crafter of needle works?
Studied their knowing hands
Where to stich, what color to use
To produce a master piece?
* * *
I know of a crafter of such-like
Her delicate hands flies with knowledge
Fingers guiding a needle,
Following only the crafter's pattern.
* * *
But this crafter differs from others
Her piece not seen to the eye alone
Threads not of yarn
And needle not of steel.
* * *
Her hands carefully work
On this forever-taking piece
Embroidering intricate designs
With loving care and caution.
* * *
Yet, she finds an error,
A frown surfaces, fingers quiver
The crafter attempts to undo the blemish
Hoping the pattern is not destroyed.
* * *
This process is long, indeed.
You'll see her smile at an accomplished part
And you'll see her frown when a thread breaks
And you'll find tears, when the needle pricks.
* * *
Perhaps you may marvel at the crafter,
And perhaps you'll ridicule her.
You may care less,
Saying it is, but "foolish play"
* * *
Though to me, this crafter is beyond.
I share her smiles, her frowns
Her cries when her finger bleeds.
To me, she is an apprentice
To be the crafer of [her] life.
