Accommodation
Although many of our students from Cyprus choose to live at home whilst studying with us, for those from outside Cyprus there are three possibilities for living accommodation whilst at the College. These are privately rented accommodation in Larnaca, accommodation rented from the College in Larnaca, and rent-free living accommodation at the College in Lempa.
PRIVATE RENTAL IN LARNACA
If you choose to rent privately you will find it is usually less expensive and easier to find somewhere after you have arrived in Cyprus so it might be worth booking into a guest house for when you first arrive. Although there are accommodation agencies most flats and apartments are rented privately by individuals who place notices on the Community Notice Boards in supermarkets, or in the windows of shops and houses. It is also a good idea to look in the classifieds section of the English language newspapers, The Cyprus Mail and The Cyprus Weekly.
The cost of private rental varies depending on your needs, but as a guide price a one bedroom apartment starts at about 400 euro a month.
COLLEGE RENTAL IN LARNACA
For students in Larnaca the College offers basic accommodation in a student hostel. This involves shared facilities, but students have a single bedroom to themselves. Please note that this accommodation is only available in the first year of your studies, so if your course lasts more than one year you will be responsible for arranging your own living accommodation after the first year of your studies.
For the academic year 2009-2010 the cost of this will be 280 euro a month. This does not include utility bills, which should come to about 16 euro a month extra.
RENT-FREE COLLEGE ACCOMMODATION: LEMPA
Full-time students on the Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art course in Lempa can have rent-free living accommodation at the College for the duration of their course (subject to availability). This accommodation is very basic, youth hostel style accommodation, although students do have single bedrooms. Bathroom and kitchen facilities are shared.
The accommodation is located less than 100 metres away from the College studios, and comprises a series of converted village cottages. These are arranged around a private garden, with a separate kitchen and bathroom building in the centre of the garden.
Students are still responsible for utility bills on this accommodation.
Please note that the rent-free living accommodation is available only to Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art students.
GENERAL
With all the accommodation students are responsible for their cleaning up their own space, and must take part in a cleaning rota for the communal areas. Other terms and conditions apply regarding the living accommodation and are contained in the Cyprus College of Art Rules and Regulations.
