The woods would be a very silent place if no birds sang except those who sang best.
Pogo is a massive online game community. Run by EA Games, it offers over 100 online games, downloadable games, and even games for your mobile devices. The games range from puzzles to traditional card games, as well as some online casino favorites. Both single player and player versus player games exist. And most games come with the ability to win cash and prizes.
Pogo has free games, but only the prizes and awards can be won by members. Now, anyone who has known me long enough knows how much I loathe paying for online games. I mean, seriously, there are hundreds of thousands of free online games out there if you look. No one should ever have to pay for an online game. Even Blizzard still offers free multi-player games servers for Starcraft and Diablo. Be that as it may, yes I have paid to become a full member at Pogo. It was a highly reluctant move, but I can't really complain too much about $30 a year. That's fairly reasonable for what Pogo offers, and they come out with new games every month.
The main allure of Pogo for many players are the game awards, or badges, as they are called. Every week, players have a chance to win 3 game challenge badges, 2 specified by the staff at Pogo, and 1 personal challenge which can be selected by the player from all previously issued challenges. You can go all the way back to 2003 to complete challenges.
Recently Pogo started selling premium badge books. These books contain even more badge challenges for players to obtain, with special custom animated badges as rewards.
There are also badges from completing level requirements in some games, and occasionally Pogo offers a special badge for completing specific requirements within a specified time frame, usually collect 4 or more badges in 2 weeks. You can also select your favorite game badge to be displayed while chatting with other players online.
Finally it is possible for you to keep track of your friends that also play Pogo, send them private messages, and meet new people as almost every game has a group chat. There has always been at least 100,000 players online when I typically play, usually more than 200,000. Each player can also customize an avatar, called a Pogo Mini, with prize tokens won by playing games.
