...a muslim who once goes to shilla never leaves
.
Shilla is one of the oldest web-based online games still running on the web. In fact, Shilla may even be older still as it may have originally started as a MUD. Originally coming to the web somewhere between 1996-1997, it is still going strong today with a user base over a couple thousand players, with 25% regular user base. And how do I know all of this? Well, I don't just play the game, and truth be told, I don't actually play at all, I help run it. Yup, I'm one of the admins.
For the most part, I concentrate on actual game play design, as well and making sure the server and connections stay up. The game has evolved greatly from a simple role playing game structure it originally started as. And it is still undergoing changes to this day. This has had the effect of discouraging a lot of the older players from continuing to play, mostly because we now make them think a little. As such, they have moved onto other games of similar nature. I don't see this as a bad thing. I have too many good friends I have seen get way too obsessed with this game. I've had to come in a ban people form playing one too many times as well. There are still too many who play that take the game way too seriously. Nevertheless, we keep it running. And Melkor, the other admin, who admittedly does most of the work these days, and I haven't had to actually ban anyone in a long while.
Shilla is not original. Heck, it doesn't even live up to it's name. We don't claim to be original, just unique. We have cobbled together a lot of ideas from a wide variety of other role playing games. And we still have more to come.
