When I first came up with the idea of starting this Web Site, I had no idea of how to proceed. Then I found a copy of the April '96 issue of The Net. This magazine gave me much of the basic info on Web site building. From finding a host, which led me to GeoCities, to basic tips on HTML tags, to suggested things not to do, this helped me out in my first tentative steps.
For learning HTML, they suggested a number of sites, including The Beginner's Guide to HTML.
After this I needed more info on HTML, so I picked up The Complete Idiot's Guide to Creating an HTML Web Page, by Paul McFries. A very wise choice.
This book helped me further by providing not only info and skills, but some software tools to make the job much easier. These tools included LView Pro, a graphics program to view, resize, and convert images to"jpeg" and "gif" formats, and HTML Writer by Kris Nosack, a very simple, easy to use, but complete HTML text editor. All the documents on this site were created using this software.
I keep track of my visitors by using Another HTML Acess Counter by Mark Boyns.
I would also like to thank my brother for providing some insights and basic information on the Web and Internet itself. No matter how stupid my question was he didn't laugh.
But most importantly I would like to thank my brothers in recovery, my Saturday Morning Group. By their examples, I have learned patience, acceptance, humility, and most importantly of all, I have been shown the path to recovery. They are the people I look up to.
