This page aims to contribute to the debate currently warming up about the true nature of the Big Bang. It will provide some examples of the type of problem that the Big Bang is at present experiencing, and will hopefully provide some alternative ways of looking at astronomical observations from a cosmological viewpoint. All this, with a pinch of humour !
But whilst I hasten to get my act together, I wouldn't have you leave empty-handed.
Here is a picture of the Andromeda Galaxy, M31, 2.5 million light years from us - it is our closest major galaxy and it weighs about 300,000 solar masses.

The only way that the Big Bang can explain the formation of such a huge gathering of material into such a small volume is to speed up exponentially the expansion rate of the "young" Universe! This period of inflation will be the object of many hilarious jokes on this page. But for now ... er, that's it.
