The Day Reagan was Shot

By: Becky Jean Fuller

An important day in '81.
President Reagan shot by some man's gun.
Through the country the news did spread.
I'm sure some heard the man was dead.

Through the chest the bullet ran
Hardly known by the wounded man.
To the ground, three men fell.
Others just began to yell.

As to Tim, Tom and Jim
The president thanks all of them.
These men wounded, one quite serious.
Why these three leaves me curious.

Tim McCarty was Secret Service
Probably all men were nervous.
To the bullet this man ran.
Saving it from the important man.

Tom Delehaty, a policmen of the neighborhood
In the course of the bullet he stood.
To the neck, the bullet did bite.
Now we hear he'll be all right.

Still in surgery as of now.
To the brain his bullet did vow.
His codition still quite shady.
This is Press Secretary, Jim Brady.

Just who is the man to blame?
Jim Hinkley, we hear is his name.
Only twenty-five years of age.
Probably now it's life in the cage.

'Bout six hours on the TV it's been.
More now of these importat men.
At 9:00 it's off CBS
Are the men all right? The answer is, "Yes!"
