Kookie's Adventure Journal
Mrs. Dunithan's 1st - 6th Grade Class Kookie enjoyed meeting someone from New Zealand and Australia this morning. It was nice to see a fellow Australian! We had a visitor, Brian West, (a friend of Zeke and Sierra's parents) come to tell us more about Australia. Mr. West was born and raised in New Zealand, but moved to Australia when he was an adult and lived there for 18 years. He has been in the United States for the past 6 years. He told us about some Australian animals, some of the foods there and many other things. We enjoyed hearing about your country. We especially enjoyed some of the words he used and his accent. He spent about an hour visiting with our class. Kookie wanted to add things from time to time, but was still a little shy in the new surroundings. Today was special because the class received a new visitor. Percy, the Pig arrived from Dysart, Iowa (USA), at lunch time. Samantha introduced us and we had a wonderful afternoon. Mrs. Dunithan also read us the book "How the Birds Got Their Colours" that I brought with me. It felt a little bit like home hearing her read that story. Early in the morning, Mrs. Dunithan brought out all the things that I brought with me from Australia. The children were very excited to see all the souveniers and had a wonderful time deciding what they wanted. Everyone received several things to take with them. Today was a half day of school for us. The students here are ending a marking period and have a long weekend ahead of them. I'm planning on a long weekend with Percy and a new arrival in the class this week - Melvin the Mallard is visiting the Preschool and kindergarten class for the next month and was just introduced today. |
