This year we will study 4 main topics: Social Class in America; Education;
Indigenous People;
and, Modern Society and the Future. As subtopics we will look at our
own high school and
community and some specific indigenous people.
For each topic we will interweave
some important themes of sociology.We
will investigate
status, role, deviant behavior, organizations, values, technology,
rites of passage, theories, methods,
institutions and kinship.
We will be reading Amazing
Grace, by Jonathan Kozol. To find out more about him and
