Mission statement
Arena is a sports Web magazine produced by the Sports Reporting class of the High School Journalism Institute at Indiana University. It is a site that publishes articles reported on while attending the 2003 HSJI, a summertime camp for high school journalists. This site started with the summer of 2003 HSJI sports reporters. They reporters had five writing assignments during the July 19-23 session. They covered two press conferences and a basketball game. They also took part in a competitive writing assignment with the enitre Insitute and had an optional assignment. This site gives the reporters a chance to show their work to the public. Students produced their articles in the Ashton Center computer lab. Each assignment was evaluated for both reporting and writing. Students covered press conferences and a basketball game. They also wrote columns and personality profiles. This Web site displays representative work by each student during the week of study. Students represented the Midwest and East Coast. The purpose of the site is entirely educational. None of its contents is for profit or any commercial use. Arnea would like to thank Dr. Jack Dvorak, HSJI director, for his support of the sports reporters and their work. The magazine also would like to think his assistant, Linda Johnson, and the HSJI faculty, led by Diana Hadley of Mooresville, Ind., High School, and the HSJI counselors for all of their hard work and support. |
