Just For Today

Just for today I will be happy, this assumes that what Abraham Lincoln said is true, that "most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." Happiness is from within; it is not a matter of externals.

Just for today I will try to adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my family, my business, and my luck as they come and fit myself to them.

Just for today I will take care of my body. I will exercise it, care for it, nourish it, not abuse it nor neglect it, so that it will be a perfect machine for my bidding.

Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.

Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways; I will do somebody a good turn and not get found out. I will do at least two things I don't wnat to do, as William James suggests, just for exercise.

Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress as becomingly as possible, talk low, act courteously, be liberal with praise, criticize not at all, nor find fault with anything and not try to regulate nor improve anyone.

Jut for today I will try to live through this day only, not to tackle my whole life problem at once. I can do things for twelve hours that would appal me if I had to keep them up for a lifetime.

Just for today I will have a program. I will write down what I expect to do every hour. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it. It will eliminate two pests, hurrying and indecision.

Just for today I will have a quiet half-hour all by myself and relax. In this half-hour sometimes I will think of God, so as to get a little more perspective into my life.

Just for today I will be unafraid, especially I will not be afraid to be happy, to enjoy what is beautiful, to love, and to believe that those I love, love me.

You Are What You Think

If you think you are beaten, you are,

If you think you dare not, you don't

If you like to win, but you think you can't

It's is almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost,

For out in the world we find,

Success begins with a fellow's will --

It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,

You've got to think high to rise,

You've got to be sure of yourself before

You can ever win a prize.

Life's battle don't always go

To the stronger or faster man,

But soon or late the man who wins

Is the man who thinks he can!

Do A Little More ...

Do a little more than you need to,

Give a little more than you have to,

Try a little harder than you want to,

And you'll achieve more than you need to,

By doing all you plan to.

The Man In The Glass

When you get what you want in your struggle for gain,

and the world makes you king for the day,

just go to the mirror and look at yourself,

and see what the man has to say.

It isn't your father, or mother, or wife,

whose judgment upon you must pass.

For the one whose verdict counts most in your life,

is the one staring back in the glass.

You may be one who got a good break,

and think you're a wonderful guy,

but the man in the glass says you're only a fake,

if you can't look him straight in the eyes.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway for years,

and get pats on the back as you pass,

but your final reward will be heartaches and tears,

if you have cheated the man in the glass.

Checking

He checked his workers and found them not thinking,

He checked the races and saw his horse winning,

He checked the forecast and found it'll be raining,

He checked his roses and found them dying,

But what he forgot to check was what he was doing,

and where he was going, and found himself almost sinking.

Teacher

A good teacher speaks the language of the intellect using words to communicate.

An excellent teacher speaks also the language of the subject, tutoring the skills.

A great teacher speaks as well the language of emotion, inspiring, motivating, encouraging and instailling in her students a genuine desire to excel and a fervent love for the subject.

A great teacher is every achiever's first mentor!
