Great Reads

I highly recommend them, but nothing substitutes God's Word.
  • Knowing God by J.I. Packer
  • Desiring God by John Piper
  • Chosen by God by R.C. Sproul
  • The Magnificent Defeat by Frederick Buechner
  • Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
  • Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis
  • The Confessions by St. Augustine (I just began)
That's it so far.  I hope to add more in the near future.

Quotations "The picture of fallen man as given in Scripture is that he knows God, but does not want to recognize Him as God."  - Cornelius Van Til

"No one but a madman would will the mountains of the dead on the beaches of Normandy, at Auschwitz, Hiroshima, Vietnam, but there they lie.  Call it what you will, the evil in this world is greater than than sum of all human evil, which is great enough, just as the evil in ourselves as individuals is greater than the evil that we choose, and that is great enough too." - Frederick Buechner

"According to Scripture, God is incomprehensible yet knowable, absolute yet personal."  - Herman Bavinck

"Repentance is only the sign that I realize what God has done through Jesus Christ."  - Oswald Chambers

"Whenever there is a spiritual drain in your life, correct it immediately.  Realize that something has been coming between you and God, and change or remove it at once."  - Oswald Chambers

"love as the act of willing another's good even though we may despise the darkness in him just as we will our own good even though we despise the darkness in ourselves.  It is not until we love a person in all his ugliness that we can make him beautiful, or ourselves either."
- Frederick Buechner

Links The links are endless and they are chained somewhere or the other and can lead you to the twilight zone, therefore, what you find in these links does not necessary reflect my belief, my view, my opinion and so forth. However, just because you disagree with certain things should not stop nor discourage you from looking into them. They may contain something that are somewhat valuable to you. Please use your discernment. Three questions I always ask when discerning:

1. Is it God-centered? (not me centered!)
2. Where are the Bible references?
3. Are they taken out of content? (meaning, be sure to read all the verses.)

If you really want my opinion on the links provided or links linked, email me and I will humbly offer you my perspective. Meanwhile, enjoy.

Phil Johnson's Bookmark
When I found his page, I felt like a bookworm who has found the best library. He has the best links to Christian resources. I get a kick out of reading some of his comments. He's page is always my starting point and it's interesting where it leads me.

My Utmost for His Highest
I believe this is the BEST quiet time resource. It is very powerful. He was ministered by Spurgeon and it was his wife who was able to put this book together, after he died. It is great to give credit to those who are first in line but it is just as important to remember those who stood behind. The hidden heroes, no, not hidden, but silent heroes. One isn't better than the other but the unity of two WOW, what a team.

The Spurgeon's Archive
This man loved and feared God and the passion he had for Him is a blessing, even years after his death.  His sermons must be read by all.

The Hall of Church History
When I began comparative study of Arminianism vs Calvinism and I did a search on Yahoo and this is what I have discovered. I had little and still very little knowledge of Church History and it's so important to learn, more important than most of us realize.  It is all worth the investment.

Glimpse of Church History
The Church History is HUGE, SPECIFIC and DETAILED. This page on the other hand is like introduction to Church History. If you are lost on the links above, I suggest you check this page out first.

The Study Hall
Great Bible resource. This is really resourceful for Bible students, Sunday school teachers, and those who are studying God's Words. It pertains Bible dictionary, commentaries, and lots lots of neat stuff that will assist you. Type in "grace" and it'll provide a brief explanation with Bible references.

Bible Gateway
If you are like me, I'm the kind of person that says "I think that verse is somewhere in Matthew..." but I hope most of you aren't. I truly need to brush up on my accuracy meanwhile, here is an awesome link to chapters and keywords look up with couple of different languages and translation version that can assist you.

The Highway
This page is packed with great articles and it's reader friendly - lay people friendly that is.

Corem Deo by David Brown
It means "before the face of God."  Here's another page full of great articles and Christian links.  I learn great deal of things in here.  My favorite is great quotations about faith and life.

Piper's Notes
This is also a MUST read web page.  He wrote the book titled DESIRING GOD and one chapter taught me so much and my whole attitude toward God.

Renewing Your Mind with RC Sproul
Another MUST see.

Interactive Passion History
If you want to know about Jesus' death account, this is the place.  You will interact with the 4 incorporated gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) so you can select a path by clicking on the choices.  It's sort of difficult to explain in my own words, so just click and check it out.
