Families of Consciousness

Seth states that there are nine families of consciousness. These are psychic families, each having their own characteristics. Genererally, individuals will choose a life that allows them to fulfill these inclinations. A Sumafi may not necessarily be a school teacher, but may find him/herself in other positions where he/she is still teaching. Below is a broad outline of these nine families. TO FOUND SOCIAL SYSTEMS:

Members of this group are the organizers, setting up governments, institutions and religions.

SUMAFI

TO TRANSMIT ORIGINALITY THROUGH TEACHING:

These are the teachers and the keepers of knowledge.

TUMOLD

TO HEAL, REGARDLESS OF INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONS:

These members heal physically, culturally and spiritually.

VOLD

TO REFORM THE STATUS QUO:

Members of this group are primarily reformers. They are often activists and revolutionaries.

MILUMET

TO MYSTICALLY NOURISH MANKIND'S PSYCHE.

This family is composed of mystics. Their focus is more spiritual than intellectual.

ZULI

TO SERVE AS PHYSICAL, ATHLETIC MODELS:

Members of Zuli are involved mainly with the fulfillment of bodily activity. These are the athletes.

BORLEDIM

TO PROVIDE EARTHSTOCK FOR THE SPECIES THROUGH PARENTHOOD:

This family deals primarily with parenthood. These people are natural "earth parents" and often have large families.

ILDA

TO SPREAD AND EXCHANGE IDEAS:

These members are communicators and travellers. They are extremely verbal.

SUMARI

TO PROVIDE CULTURAL, SPIRITUAL, AND ARTISTIC HERITAGE FOR THE SPECIES:

These are the artists. They are creative, independent and cheerfully rebellious.
