I am proudly presenting this wonderful work of my beloved soul-sister. I can only wholeheartedly agree, and humbly chant along :)

Thanking the Old Ones

In memory of my Grandfather.
Who taught me that a family could mean love.
That a man could be gentle.
That there is grace in old age,
And wisdom beyond the comprehension
of a 10-year-old child or a 45-year-old woman.

In memory of my Grandmother.
Who showed me the way of being a woman.
That I was a thing of beauty.
That my soul had wings.
And who gave me the courage to
follow my own path and meet my own destiny.

I was blessed with their unconditional love and support.
My memories are of walking beside them,
knee height and holding their hands.
And of clasping those same hands as they prepared
to pass this life.

To my PopPop and Nana ... I know that you
gave me the courage to become what I am today ...
to be an individual in my own right ...
but still what I want more than anything
is to be just like you.

As Our Lady becomes the Divine Crone
and the wheel of life comes to an end ...
I know that I have experienced the soft touch
of the Old Ones
in the kiss of my grandparents
and in their gentle memory.

In honor of Grandpa and Grandma.
I chant your names as a gift to the world.

Your loving granddaughter, Ahneke Greystone
