Abarta~ A God of the Tuatha.

Accasbel~ An early God of wine, ale, and mead.

Achilles: Trying to make him invulnerable, his mother dipped him in the Styx when he was a baby. She held him by the heel and forgot to dip that as well, so it became his vulnerable spot. This name suggests a vulnerable person who is working on his weakness.

Adonis: Greek; consort of Aphrodite. Also another name for "Lord". In Phoenician his counterpart is Astarte. A vegetation God. Roman counterpart is Venus.

Aegir: Scandinavian. Sea God. A water name. Also a name which brings a sense of working together as a team, an acceptance of death as part of the cycle, and working within that context.

Aengus MacAedh~ A brother to the Goddesses Fand and Liban. Possibly a God of Song.

Aengus MacOg~ The son of The Dagda and Boann, he is seen as the God of young love.

Aeolus: Father of the wind. An air name which brings to mind wisdom, flight, power, and freedom.

Aesun~ Possibly an early Irish God from creation myths

Afagddu~ The son of Cerridwen and Tegid, he was acclaimed as the ugliest child on Earth. Possibly a God of inner beauty, strength and wisdom.

Albion~ Possibly another God from creation myths, lost to our society.

Alisanos~ A Gaulish God of stones.

Amathaon: A magician, son of the Goddess Don. This name would be taken to understand more about the magic that causes plants to grow. It would also be for helping to tame wildness, increasing fertility, and for planting the seeds of self-transformation.

Amergin: Irish. the bard and spokesman of the Milesians. This is a good name for a poet, spokesperson, or a writer, for it brings poetry, inspiration, communication and wisdom.Chief Bard of the Milesians, he made contact with the Tuatha, and attempted peace. He promised the four Goddesses the island would be named after them.

Amun-Ra: Also Ra. Sun God. This is primarily a fertility name bringing warmth, insight, knowledge, and an awareness of the frailty of aging. This would be a good name to take if you are working on learning to keep secrets

Anubis: Egyptian; guardian of Isis. Jackal-headed God of Protection. Call on him to protect both home and person.

Ambisagrus~ A Breton God of Weather. In the Roman occupation, his mythology merged with that of Jupiter.

Anind~ Represents the re-born Sun God. Probably revered at Yule ot Imbolc

Apollo: God of intellect, music, art, poetry, healing, and light. This is a name which brings strength, male beauty, compassion, sensitivity, lust, passion, and talent.Greek and Roman; twin brother of Artemis. God of the Sun, Light and the Arts.

Apsu: Babylonian; his mate is Tiamat.

Ard Greimme~ Once a Sun God, he is the father of Scathach and Aife.

Ares: Also Aries. God of war. Lover of Aphrodite. Father to Gods of terror, tumult, fear, panic, and Goddesses of battle (Enos), discord (Eris), and fair victory. Sacred to him were the dog and the vulture. This is a warrior's name, bringing protection.

Arrawn~ The King of Annwn, the Otherworld.

Artaius~ A God of sheep and herders in Celtic Gaul.

Baile~ Literally, the God of Blarney.

Balder: Norse. Most beautiful of the Norse Gods; God of the sun. A name to use for improving self-esteem, confidence, wisdom, and pride.

Balor~ The grand-father of Lugh, he was replaced by him as the Sun God.

Barinthus~ Probably once a Sun or Sea God, now charioteer to the residents of the Otherworld.

Beli(or Bel)~ Primary Welsh father God. Once a minor Sun God, for whom Beltaine was named. His role now seems to be that of God of death in the Underworld.

Bladud~ A regional sun God associated to the English hot springs at Aquae Sulis.

Bonus Eventus: Means "good outcome." God of good luck. Also a God of the harvest. A name to encourage prosperity, good fortune and success.

Bormanus~ Probably one of the earliest Celtic Gods of whom nothing is know today.

Borvo: Celtic. European Celtic God of hot springs. This would be a good name for a hot tub. It is also a name which is beneficial for inducing healing, comfort, relaxation, and letting go.

Bran The Blessed~ Possibly a God of protection and the waning year. It is said his head was carried back from battle, speaking to his soldiers the entire journey, and then buried near the Tower of London. His ravens are still protecting the Royal Family line, as it is said should the Ravens ever leave Tower Hill...the Royal Family will crumble and lose their crown. This is a name which brings strong communication skills.

Breasal~ Possibly a God of travel. It is said that Portugese explorers thought that they had landed in his territory, and therefore named "Brazil" in his honor.

Brenos~ A Continental war God.

Bres: Irish. Husband to Brighid. This is a name to take to learn from your mistakes; for developing generosity, compassion, leadership abilities, and, most importantly, to listen to and learn from those around you.

Bussumarus~ A Celtic Gaul God identified with Jupiter.

Camulos~ A war God from the Colchester region of England.

Carne~ Another version of the Horned God of the Hunt.

Cernnunos~ Celtic; Horned God and consort of the Lady. Primal fertility God, consort to the Great Mother, also depicted as Lord of the Woodlands and Keeper of the Gates to the Otherworld.

Cian~ Son of the God of medicine, Diancecht, father of the sun God Lugh.

Condatis~ A Continental God of confluence, whose sacred space was where two rivers or bodies of water met.

Credne~ God of metallurgy and smithing.

Cromm Cruiach~ Also called Lord of the Mound, he is seen as a harvest, death, and sacrificial God.

Cronos~ A minor sun and harvest God.

Cuchulain~ Ireland's great hero. He may once have been worshipped as a minor sun God.

Cupid: God of love. Son of Venus. He was the God of lovers. It was to him people came to ask for love and romance. This is a good name for a lonely man who seeks true love and romance to full his empty life.

Cythrawl~ His energy has been personified as deity. His home is the Underworld.

The Dagda~ His name means "The Good God" or the "all father". A very potent father God figure, he may possibly have been a personification of the creative principle, son/consort of the Mother Goddess. He is the father of Brid and her sisters (a triplicity) and was lover to the Morrigan (also a triplicity), and was though to be a triplicity himself.

Diancecht~ A jealous God of medicine, when his children helped king Nuada regain his throne by fashioning an arm of silver and replacing his eye, Diancecht first slew his son Miach, and his daughter, Airmid, fled from him in fear. He then threw her wealth of herbal knowledge to the winds, scattering it forever.

Dunatis~ celtic Gaul God of fortifications.

Don~ Lord of the Underworld, consort to the crone Goddess Macha, son of Faery King Midhir. A death God.

Donar: Teutonic. Thunder God. Known as Thunar to the Anglo Samxons and Thor to the Scandinavians. (see Thor)

Dylan: Sea God. This is a name which brings magic, fertility, and magical children. Guardian deity of the mouth of the River Conway.

Easal~ A God of abundance and prosperity.

Epos Ollsatir~ A horse God often though of as a male version of the Goddess Epona, or perhaps her consort.

Eros: Greek; God of Romance and Passionate Love.

Essus~ A Breton harvest God.

Fergus: Irish. Lusty God of prodigious sexual appetites. A potent name for enhancing one's sexual capability.

Finvarra~ A mighty father God who has become known as a Faery king. He rules the burgh at Knockma with Oonaugh, his wife.

Fionn MacCumhal~ A legendary warrior God/giant.

Gog~ The male counterpart of fertility Goddess Magog.

Goibniu~ A master goldsmith at Tara, he is a patron God of craftspeople.

Goidel~ The common ancestor of the "Goidelic" Celts, the Irish, Manx, and Scottish. A God of language and communication.

Grannos~ Early God of mineral springs, and on the Continent he was a minor sun God.

The Green Man~ The God of Woodlands is rather like the Oak king, has many similarities to Cernunnos; he has blended into christianity as another form of their "devil". He is seen with green hair and skin, with clothes made of green leaves.

Guaire~ A guardian God of Brugh na Boinne - the Cairn at Newgrange.

Gwawl ap Clud~ Son of the Goddess Clud, he was possibly a minor sun God. He is a participant of the Rhiannon/Pwyll myths.

Gwion Bach~ The boy charged with stirring the potion of knowledge brewed by Cerridwen fo her son, Afagddu. When three drops landed on his finger, he sucked it off, and gained the knowledge. Cerridwen chased him down, and although he changed shape many times, she finally caught him, and consumed him while he was a grain of corn, and she a hen. He was re-born, from Cerridwen, as Taliesin.

Gwyddno~ A one time sea God, now thought of as a sea monster.

Gwyn ap Nudd~ Patron God of fallen warriors, and a God of war, he may also be an Otherworld God, who leads the souls to Annwn.

Hades: God of the underworld. Hades is a name for forceful energy, darkness, potency, faithfulness, wealth, and plenty.

Hermes: Messenger of the Gods. As a name, it brings increased acuity for intellect, communication, commerce, and a sense of freedom.

Herne: A hunter God. He bears a rack of deer antlers upon his head and races across the sky with his red-eared hunting dogs. He is associated with fecundity and usually portrayed with an enormous phallus. This is a particularly potent name for one who desires increased sexual fertility, virility, or ability.

Hevydd Hen~ Father of Rhiannon, king of Faeries for a time.

Hoder/Hodur: Norse. God of night. Blind son od Odin. A name for dealing with darkness adn the unknown.

Holly King & Oak King~ the sacrificial Gods who are essentially two aspects of the same being. The Holly King represents the waning year, and must battle the Oak King at Midsummer. The Oak King represents the waxing year, and must battle the Holly King at Yule.

Horus: Egyptian; Head of a Falcon and body of a man. God of the all-seeing eye and healing.

Hu Gadarn~ The common ancestor and father God to the Cymry (Welsh).

Hymen: Greek; God of Marriage and Commitment. His counterpart is Dionysus.

Ialonus~ A Continental fertility God who rules all cultivated fields.

Ibath~ A Nemedian thought to be an ancestor/father/God to the Tuatha.

Idath~ A warrior and fertility God married to the Goddess Bo Find.

Iubdan of the Faylinn~ An Ulster God known as King of the Faeries.

Janus: God of beginnings. THis is an excellent name for new beginnings, new partnerships, business ventures, relationships, new jobs, or the beginning of anything to insure it goes smoothly.

Jumala: Supreme sky God. His symbol was the oak tree. An air elemental name bringing power, control, and creativity.

Jupiter/Jove: Sky God This is a good name for a father to help guide, protect, guard, and tac the value of one's word.

Keevan(also Ceibhan)~ May once have been a God of the Hunt.

King Arthur~ His stories are very popular, however it is possible there may be some basis in fact. The seventh century king, Artorius fought to drive the Saxons from Britain, and his stories may have merged with those of an ancient sacrificial king/God and then merged once more into those of King Arthur.

Leucetios~ A thunder God similar to the Norse God Thor.

Llasar Llaesgyfnewid~ A Welsh battle God.

Llew Llaw Gyffes~ The son of Arianrhod and her brother Gwyddion, or possibly her Uncle Math. Thought to be the same as the Irish sun God Lugh.

Llma: Air God. Father of "Daughter of Nature" and "Mother of the Waters". An air energy name for creativity, fertility, power, and clarity of thought.

Llud: (pronounced "hleth"): British Celtic river God. Also Ludd, Nuda, or Nudd. He has a silver hand. This is a name for water energy and overcoming one's handicaps. A river God for whom Ludgate in London is named.

Lludd~ Son of the death God Beli, and a death God in his own right.

Loki: Scandinavian. Trickster God. A quick-witted, silver-tongued, cunning, crafty, and unpredictable God. A God who can be a great asset or painful liability, but always unique. A name to be used for breaking free of regimen, learning not to rely on routine, and accepting the crazy twists and turn in life and "lightening up". When you take on the name Loki, anything may happen. Just let it.

Luchtain~ A minor war and death God.

Lugain Riab nDerg~ Foster brother to Cuchulain, he is thought to represent a masculine version of the Triple Goddess.

Lugh~ A God of the sun, light and grain harvest, his Sabbat is Lughnasadh. He is also worshipped as a God of weaving, fire and metallurgy, crafting and protector of the weak.

Mars: War God. His name can be used as a protective, pwoerful, and awe-inspiring name. It can be used to increase your assertiveness, strenght of will, conviction, and resolve.

Mabon~ He represents the innocence of youth , then strength and virility as a man, and the sacrificial God when elderly. The fall equinox "Mabon" is his Sabbat.

MacCecht~ God of the plow for the Tuatha.

MacCuill~ Sea God of the Tuatha.

MacGreine~ Sun God of the Tuatha.

Manann~ Sea God for whom the Isle of Man is named. Second husband to Rhiannon.

Math ap Mathonwy~ Brother to Mother Goddess Don, a minor sun God and ruler of the Otherworld.

Mathonwy~ The early father God.

Mercury: God of trade. This is a good name for those who seek success in business or who are looking for a job. It is especially godd for sales work.

Merlin~ The bard, Druid, seer, magician of the Arthurian legends.

Mider: Irish. Gaelic king of the underworld. Husband of the Goddess of reincarnation. This name lends the bearer an appreciation of the cycles of life, coping with death, renewed hope, and rejuvenation.

Midhir~ He is seen as a Faery God, and a minor Otherworld God.

Mimir: Norse. God of prophecy. Guardian of the medow of poets, and streams and lakes. A name for wisdom, prophecy, peotry, insight, inspiration, intuition, and water energy.

Mithra: Persian; Sun God and bringer of Light. A soldier's God.

Myrddin (pronounced "MERTH in"): The British Zeus. Has sky God attributes and his resting place is refered to as his airy tomb. A wise, magical, powerful, vulnerable, and protective name. A good name for a sage.

Myrddin Wyllt~ A woodland God.

Nakki: Shape-shifting water God. Bottomless lakes lead to the palace of Nakki. Swimmers must beware of him. He appears at the rising and setting of the sun. This is a water energy name, bringing immersion in one's inner emotions.

Neptune: Sea God. This is a powerful water name bringing the power of the sea, intuition, and a depth of emotion. this is a particularly good name for someone who is shut off from his emotions and unable to deal with his feelings.

Neit~ A Tuatha war God. Nemglan~ a bird God.

Nick: Water God. Derived from the Nix, Teutonic water sprites. This is a good water energy name.

Nu: God of the primordial watery mass from which sprang the Gods; known as the father of the Gods. This is a name for going back to the beginning and looking at your life. This is a starting over name. It also is a good name for new beginnings and the creation of new couples or groups.

Nuada of the Silver Hand~ The last king of the Tuatha, also a God of war.

Nwyvre: Means sky, space, or stars. Space God. Arianrhod's husband. He slipped into almost total obscurity. Since we know so little about his nature and his realm, we must assign our own meanings to him. He is a space God, dealing with that outside of the the bonds of earth. Perhaps he has disappeared until we took up space travel and have need of him. It may be time to bring him back.

Odin: Scandinavian; counterpart of Freya. This is the God who hung on the Tree of Yggdrasil to obtain second sight. His familiars are the Raven and the Wolf. In his youth he is depicted as a terrible God, in his old age as a God of Wisdom and psychic sight. Supreme God. A father name which brings fertility, creativity, power, strength, courage, and the poetic heart of the true warrior.

Oghma: Irish. God of wisdom communication and writing who invented the Ogham alphabet, which he gave to the Druids. This name would be helpful to a writer, student, poet, philosopher, or someone who wished to become one of these.

Ogyrvran~ Patron God of the arts.

Orion: A hunter. A name for bringing the essence of the hunt, pursuit, energy, determination desire, and dealing with losing the object of your desire.

Osiris: Egyptian; counterpart of Isis. Over-all God form including vegetation and after-life.God of fertility, growing things, and the afterlife. Husband of Isis. His reformation of the lands he touched was done without force but with charm, music, and sound ideas. He was torn apart by Set and his body hidden all over Egypt. Isis had to find all the parts to restore him to life. The only part she could not find was his penis, which had been eaten by a fish. It was from this myth that the custom of eating fish on Fridays sprang. Sacramental imbibing of the flesh of deity began in this way and has persisted for thousands of years, thanks to the Catholics. Rot: God of the underworld. Underworld names can help us separate and identify aspects of our personality, analyze these aspects, synthesize this new awareness into our conscious mind, accept these aspects, and go through a rebirth of a new, improved person.

Saturn: God of agriculture. He is a God of sowing seed. He is seen holding a sickle or ear of corn which symbolizes abundance. This name brings with it abundance, fertility, plenty, success, and prosperity.

Teyrnon~ A minor fertility God.

Thor: Scandinavian; God of Sky and Thunder. A kindly God of the common people, including farmers and sailors.

Thoth: Egyptian; God of Reincarnation. Also a Moon God and favorable to science and wisdom. God of divine intelligence and writing. A name to take as you write or study.

Tuan MacCairill~ A God of animals and woodlands.

Urien~ A minor sun God.

Vu-Kutis: A healer water God. A good name for curing disease. Greek Gods

Vulcan: God of Fire. This is a name which brings fire energy, temper, rage, and destruction. Use it carefully, it can bring motivation, but it cuts both ways.
