* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * In 1996, during my parents holiday with us, we decided to go to visit the Stone Age Museum, Standing Stones and Tumuli, at Bougon, a very interesting place about a half hour drive from where we live.It was a lovely day, but early in the season, so we virtually had the place to ourselves - which was nice. After looking around the museum we began our walk around the grounds. We stopped at the standing stones so that I could try dowsing the area with my copper rods, which was very interesting and great fun. Then we carried on to look at the Tumuli. We had thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we were walking back towards the main entrance and the picnic area, when my daughter, Katie, stopped to pick up a stone for me that she'd spotted (I collect stones and I'm always on the lookout for interesting ones to add to the collection!) It was quite small and an unusual reddish brown colour - she thought it looked a bit like a bear. As I took it from her I could see immediately that it looked like a pig. This is the first coincidence because pigs are my favourite animals - I have a collection of pig ornaments and various piggy paraphernalia, so I was delighted and 'knew' that this stone was meant for me. I turned the stone over in my hand and then realised that the other side of it looked like a buffalo - another coincidence. I had been given 'buffalo', as a totem animal to work with, the first time that I had been introduced to Native American ways and the 'Medicine Cards' by my friend Jan. So this was more 'proof' that this was my stone. I kept the stone with me and showed it to lots of people, asking if they could see that it was a pig on one side and a buffalo on the other. Some people saw it straight away, but others (sceptical people mostly!) couldn't see anything. I had also kept another stone which was very important to me - the first stone that 'fallen' on the night that 'the stones fell' (click here to read about that magikal night!). A few weeks later someone was asking me about the stones and I wanted to show them to her. I hunted high and low but couldn't find either of them. I knew that they hadn't been put together, so I turned out all my bags, searched cupboards, drawers and shelves but to no avail. I was quite upset about it, but then began to hear, read, and see programs on the T.V. about 'apports' - something that I'd never heard of before. It seemed as though every book or magazine I picked up had a story about apports featured in it. I decided that this was what had happened to my stones - they'd been 'apported off' somewhere! I asked some of my friends to keep a lookout for my stones and then, eventually, I forgot about them, accepting that I would probably never see them again. Months later I was out shopping with my son Tom, aged 8 at the time. We went to a shop called 'Gifi' at St. Jean d'Angely, it has a big car park, which was almost empty on this particular day. I could have chosen anywhere to park but ended up choosing a space near the middle of the car park. As I opened the door of the car, something immediately caught my eye. I bent down to pick it up and was 'gobsmacked'! It was my long lost piggy/buffalo stone! I was so excited I called out to Tom "Look! It's my Piggy stone! Look! There's a pig on one side and a buffalo on the other! I don't believe it! It's my stone!" My son obviously wasn't as impressed as I was. He dropped one of the fruit sweets, that he was carrying, on to the ground and bent down to pick it up, exclaiming "Look Mum it's my sweet. There's a lemon on one side and a lemon on the other! I don't believe it!" Was he taking the 'mickey', or what?! Despite what my son thought, I did find it totally amazing because I could have parked anywhere else in the car park and I would not have noticed it, I could even have parked over it and not seen it, but no, I parked right beside it so that it was the first thing to catch my eye as I opened the door. It was a 'coincidence' that I chose that spot to park in ... or was it??!! I never have found the other stone though, but I don't think I am meant to. I think it was 'removed' from me, so that I could move on. I had been so affected by the night that the stones had fallen, and wanted so much for it to happen again, that I'd got 'stuck', waiting for a repeat performance. Now I feel I really have moved on, learning and growing all the time, as we all have to, and enjoying every minute in the 'now', while excitedly anticipating what's to come next...
