* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I believe that there are a great many of you out there experiencing 'Stuff', but that some of you don't realise it yet, or don't realise it until it's pointed out to you. When you begin to really think about your own life you can see the long, long series of coincidences and synchronicities going back and back, which have brought you to the point in your life which you have reached now. Some of these coincidences are quite profound and amazing, but many are funny little coincidences and don't always lead on to anything mind-blowing, but make you chuckle because they are just reminders of how wonderful and exciting life is! For instance... One day I was visiting Angouleme with a friend, just for a day out, looking around the shops. I didn't have much money to spend but wanted to visit a little shop where they sell Tarot cards. I had only been to this shop once before - with another friend who knew Angouleme very well. I couldn't remember where the shop was, or how to get there, just that it had looked very out of place - like an old run-down seaside gift shop with dirty windows and filled with a lot of clutter - so we just wandered around hoping to stumble upon it at some point during the day. It began to get late and we knew that we'd have to be leaving soon. We stopped in one particular street and my friend jokingly said that perhaps it was one of those magical places that only appeared at certain times and only when you are meant to go there. At that moment we looked to the opposite side of the street and there it was! On the window there was a sign saying that there was a closing down sale and that there was 25% off everything. We went in and the odd-looking woman who works there came up to see what we wanted. The shop is dark and gloomy, smells musty and the woman looks 'spooky', plus there was a strange-looking cat prowling about. I told the woman that I wished to look at the Tarot cards and she got them out for me. I told her that I would be a while because I needed to look at all the packs carefully before making my decision. She told me to carry on and went to the back of the shop. I began to look at the cards, not realising that my friend was feeling increasingly uneasy. She told me later that she'd wanted to go and stand outside to wait, but didn't dare leave me in case something happened and I never got out of the shop, or that I might disappear along with it or something! After a while I decided that I wanted to buy the Flower Tarot deck (I have, by the way, got quite a collection of cards - which I can't resist adding to, whenever I get the opportunity...!) I took the pack over to the woman, told her that I wanted to buy them and asked for the price. I hadn't looked at the price yet and wondered if I would get a reduction, but don't like haggling for this sort of thing - although I'm not averse to haggling for other things! She told me that the card set was "113 francs", which is quite an odd sum of money when you think about it, and she hadn't given me a discount. However, it did strike me as 'a bit of a coincidence' because I'd had a small win in the French Loto a few days earlier and I had just collected my winnings that morning - the exact amount of 113 francs! It was obviously the pack of cards that I was meant to buy on that day... KAZ* Crystal Star Woman Copyright © 1997 Karen bourner.
