Tree Hugging

In front of my house, in my garden, I have a wonderful, very old, horse- chestnut tree. I have hung wind chimes and crystals from the branches and love to decorate it with tiny fairy lights whenever I have a good excuse. I can sometimes be found sitting beneath it during my, not very frequent, quiet times. I also like to hug my tree a lot!

One sunny afternoon, I was in the garden, under the tree, when I heard my son Thomas ( then aged 9 ) coming around the corner from the back garden. I called out to him to ask if he was looking for me. ( He couldn't see me because the foliage hangs almost to the ground.) He asked where I was and I told him under the tree. When he saw me he exclaimed in an urgent whisper " Mum! Stop hugging the tree... my friends are coming! " - Sometimes parents can be so embarrassing ...
