* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Uruz. Let us first take a look at the traditional meaning of this very powerful Rune. Because that is what it is. The sign of Uruz signifies strength. It's symbol is the large wild ox, which has the Latin name of bosprimigenius, and believe me, that is a very strong animal. Uruz, when drawn upright, shows a turning point. What is done with this knowledge and power is entirely up to the forces that are involved. A person can step back and reflect on the ways that power is within her or his reach, and what the best way is to deploy it. You can find energy to start new things, explore new ways. In a situation-matter, there will be options to improve this situation, to turn things that are not right, to the right again. Uruz in an upside-down position shows a warning. You are not doing all you can, or you are doing the wrong things. Reflect on what you are doing. Is it what you want to do, or are you putting energy in what others expect you to do? Are you following a path that has grown on you through time? When Uruz shows this way, you have to start questioning yourself, and the things around you. In a situation-matter, be careful about how you go on. Consider the options of where you put your energy and make sure that other people are not taking your energy from you, or abuse your energy for only their own benefit. The meanings of this Rune you can use as a guide when you draw Uruz in a spread are as follows: Normal: The life you have been living is at an end. However, this is not a Rune of ending, it is instead a Rune of new beginnings. There may be darkness of a tunnel leading to the new life, but the light will be brighter at the end. Prepare for the opportunity disguised as a loss. Inverted: You may fail to take advantage of the moment. It is possible that your strength may seem to be used against you. The seeming failure may come as a minor or major jolt depending on your awareness. Remember, life is a cycle and you will again reach this point to again have this choice. The cycle is something that comes back everywhere we look. A house gets built, used, and is torn down again. Like a human body. That also is built, is used and deteriorates and leaves again. Uruz' power has its hand in this. This is a power that revolves around life, around action. It takes away the old, to create space for the new. Each time we come back to the entrance of the tunnel, from where we decide if we want to step through the left hallway, or the right hallway. You can also see, in the image of Uruz, that it roughly shows a crude entrance of sorts. Remember that Uruz is strong. Take it's appearance not lightly, because there is a lot to be gained, but also lost in the matter... Thurisaz is the Rune that we will see next time. Thurisaz, the Rune of personal affairs.
