In my living room I have made
a sort of altar on top of a chest of drawers, where we put our 'wishing well'...
My hubby thinks all this 'stuff' I am interested in is daft, but now I have him joining in
with a 'New Moon Wishing Well' ceremony every month - infact it's usually him who says 'Is
it time to do the new moon thing yet???'
On my 'altar' I have a candle in the south, a little decorated jar of water in the west, a
little ornamental box, with salt in, at the north and a feather in the east. I also have a
white teddy bear with gold wings and halo (he's my angel bear called angelo!) on one side at the back, and
a small 'cauldron' at the back of the altar on the opposite side. I also have two
delightful little fairy pig figurines (because I collect pigs and these were a gift) which
represent the elementals (I'm sure they won't mind being portrayed by pigs!), some incense, and crystals.
In the middle is the wishing well - which is a lovely, deep glass bowl with 5 pointed
stars all over it. I put coloured glass 'pebbles' in the bottom and fill it with water.
Each New Moon we all gather together in front of the altar with our 'wishes' - some of us
write them down on pieces of paper. I light the candle and some incense. We start with the
children, Aimee goes first. She takes the piece of paper with her wishes on and lights it
from the candle, then drops it into the cauldron to burn. She solemnly makes her wishes
(in her head, or out loud) and then drops a couple of coins and a couple of crystals or
gemstones into the wishing well. Then it's Lucy's turn, followed by Katie, then Tom.
Ian goes next - he has never told me what
he wishes for, but he takes it very seriously - no mocking like with other things... he
then puts 'his special stones' in the wishing well and a few coins. (I picked out relevant
stones for him, bloodstone, carnelian and tigers eye are his favourites.) Then I go last,
making wishes for the whole family to be happy and healthy etc. and finish up by giving
thanks to the powers that be...
At the end of the month, just before the following new moon I take the ashes and the salt
and the water and sprinkle them on the garden - giving them back to nature, before
re-newing and re-doing the whole ceremony.
We love doing this ceremony and it is so nice for the whole family to join in and do it
togther (I love that they take it all quite seriously). It doesn't take very long and just
leaves you all feeling really good!!
If any of you have any family/manifestation ceremonies I would love to hear them.
