A very intriguing site. My introduction to philosophy began with Mortimer Adler. Dr. Adler's clarity of expression and the wealth of knowledge concerning difficult and important ideas has never failed to deepen my interest in philosophy. Though much of my recent interest in philosophy concerns the scientific side of philosophy (i.e., I've been reading more in neuroscience than I have of Aquinas), I can't help but look foward to visiting this site in the future -- Scott David O'Reilly

I have owned a set of the "Great Books" for years but never made time to ready study them until I attended the last two summer session at Oxford University. I will be retiring in June of 1997 and look forward to having a source to refer questions to.

Jimmy & Lewis ... it's a pleasure to see that you two have also been affected deeply enough by the Great Books experience to want to share it with others. This is an excellent use of the WWW. This feels like a homecoming; I'll see you on-line.

If only I had a classical education as opposed to a contemporary
instruction...... I recently bought The Great Books at an auction,
though I am missing a few volumes(The Great Ideas, Shakespeare, James).
Any suggestions on how to secure the missing volumes?
Any suggestions on how to tackle the reading?

It is encouraging to stumble from one's surf engine and find such an enlightening purpose for a web page. Although young and financially limited, I plan to use the Great Books list as a guide for my own self-teaching guide. I wish I could afford to submit my questions to a group of scholars like the ones whom are listed herein. I shall return
