2. Lighting the center candle

When the space is prepared; the call to order is given, everyone gathers in and all lights are turned off.

The person who has been chosen for this part states the purpose of the ritual and lights the center candle to focus the attention of the group. Be sure to have a lighter or a pack of matches in your hand before the lights are turned off.

The form of a Wiccan ritual symbolically recreates the universe. Light being born out of darkness is the first act of creation.
