SRI VAISHNAVA SEVA SAMITI

Proposed Plan

Appeal to our community to contribute every quarter a fixed amount of money through authorized automatic bank transfer ($25, $50, $75, $100, $125, $150, $200, $250, $300, Etc.).

The Managing Committee will identify organizations and activities needing support and make recommendations based on urgency and importance. This list will include all major Sri Vaishnava organizations and activities in India, without any discrimination of kalai, language, or geography. The donors can select from the recommended list or other specific organizations and/or causes (as well as the contribution amount).

Ensure that the appropriate required documentation from the organization is available for the  SVSS Managing Committee consideration and approval. The contributions for causes included in the SVSS projects list will be transmitted only after obtaining the documentation.

Funds will be collected through the Sri Maalolan Seva Association (SMSA), Inc., already a TAX EXEMPT Organization (Tax ID: 75-2641081 {Non Profit 501(c) (3)}). SMSA will be used exclusively for this endeavor and renamed Sri Vaishnava Seva Samithi to reflect the breadth of our activity to serve all of the Sri Vaishnava community.

Transmit funds to pre-identified trustees of the recipient organizations. On an ongoing basis the committee will evaluate how the money is being utilized and identify other priorities.

Oversight

Verifiable accounts and proof of activities will be requested from the recipient Sri Vaishnava organizations.

Pre-identified trustees will be held responsible for proper utilization of funds, providing details on the funds expenditure, and providing receipts for donors. Using the services and help from our Indian counterparts we will ensure that the funds are properly utilized.

Volunteers both in India and in USA have been identified to oversee the process of expenditure and accounting of the funds.

Sri Vaishnava Organizations in India  will be required to provide documentation to ensure that they are registered charitable trusts or organizations, exempt under the Indian Income Tax Regulations.  For example, contributions  for Sri Ahobila Mutt collected through this endeavor will be transmitted to SAMRAAT  Foundation or  Sri Ahobila Mutt Seva Samithi which are trusts established  and registered in India to administer the funds.
