(6-1) Let the dead bury the dead (19-4-03, E. A. Star)
Within Christianity the old jewish celebration of the escape from Egypt (itself allegorical) have been transformed into recognition of the crusifiction and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Son of God (what Soeren Kierkegaard have called the most paradox of paradoxes). This is what we call Easter, and its sixth ray idealism emphasizes the sacrificial, painfull death of the nazarean religious leader, on a Roman cross. It is a good example of the theological nonsense, that for so long have been draining the religious life its appeal to the modern thinking man, in particular in the West. We shall now examine this situation a little closer.
The symbology involved in the crusifiction of Jesus is much older that Christianity, in fact part of the anscient wisdom tradition, and one of the major mistakes for the theologians have been to insist, that the Gospel is historically correct. It might be notified, that the great philosopher, mystic and occult writer, Philo Judaea (or Philo of Alexandria), living around the time of the postulated life of Jesus Christ, have registered and commented on all the religious sects and movements in the region, without mentioning Jesus at all. Geoffry Hodson wrote in his occult diary, that his clairvoyant investigations showed him, that Jesus lived around a century earlier, within the Eseenic society (the Eseenes were travelling groups of esoteric healers of the time, living at the border of the deserts, in relative seclusion) most of his life, and he was actually killed, not by the Romans but by angry Jews, throwing stones at him and accidentally hitting his brow. He did in fact get a spectacular life, but the Gospels, written much later, shows another story, and this for a good reason. The Bible is full of esoteric information, but though the esoteric philosophy can stand alone, or enrich the interpretation of the Bible, the opposite is not the case. A litteral interpretation of the Bible is often suggested by various groups of fundamentalists, but they will find many selfcontradictions, if they study the Bible in this way, and moreover they will only be able to appeal to the foolish and the gullible. The modern thinking person has other needs, and the skeleton of a suitable worldreligion, taking the best (a few central, soon commonly accepted and often very simple concepts) from all the great religions, is allready to be seen, in groups all over the world.
The word Easter commes from Ostara (according to HPB), the Scandinavian goddess of Spring. She was the symbol of resurrection of all nature and was worshipped in the early spring, and the custom among pagan Norsemen of exchanging coloured "eggs of Ostara" have probably roots back to the old kelts. It is resurrection and life, not death, that is in focus here, and the same will be true in the new world religion.
The exoteric presentation of this new religion will be based on the three major, and nine (occasionally ten) minor fullmoon festivals each year. It will be part of the Science of Invocation and Evocation (cf. Rule Three for group initiation), and will give direction and power to the present day emotional concept of prayer. Just as the breath, there is in every cycle (here the annual cycle) a phase of inbreathing, of pausing, of outbreathing and again pausing. Each fullmoon festival is related to the ceremony of the fullmoonday, with to days of preparation and another two days of distribution of the ceremonially evoked energies, always in group formation. It is based on recognition of the three great centers of our planet, Humanity, Hierachy and Shambala, and their interrelationship. The three major festivals are pertained to the fullmoons of April, May and June, and should be considered as a highly inspirational phase, later to be worked out horizontally within Humanity. The fullmoon of April is related to the Easter of Christianity, and will be the festival for celebration of the resurrected and living Christ. The fullmoon of May corresponds to the buddistic Wesak festival, where the Lord Budda hovers over the Himalayas and establishes a channel for the inflow of higher energies to the collected Hierachy. The festival of the fullmoon of June or the Christ festival is a festival for the aspiration of Humanity towards the higher centers. The minor festivals corresponds to other aspects of the new world religion, e.g. is the August fullmoon related to the great star Sirius, and the fullmoon of January is related to the first initiation. The science behind this is in compact form stipulated in Rule Three for group initiation (cf. Initiation and the Seven Rays by Alice A. Bailey).
The symbology of the three croses is (also) astrological,
related to the Mutable, the Fixed and the Cardinal Cross, covering the
stages of ordinary man, of the Path of Probation and Discipleship, and
the Path of the Higher Evolution. The Great Sacrifice, the Crusifixion
Initiation or the fourth initiation, which was actually passed by
Jesus in that life, is related to the descending of the Fixed Cross and
the attempts to ascend the Cardinal Cross. The Gospel story is first of
all a great allegory of the Path of Initiation. The birth, the babtism,
the transfiguration on the mountain, the crusifiction and the resurrection
covers the first five initiations, bridging from the probationary disciple
up to the perfected man. Simultaneusly it shows the path of the Christ,
overshadowing Jesus, from the second and up to the seventh initiation.
Actually Christ has not yet passed the seventh initiation. It seem to be
related to the joint work of Christ and Buddha, and one part is still
lacking, which will durate from the return of the Christ as part of the
externalisation of the Hierachy (which is very close now, the promised
forrunner is already on the scene), and perhaps up to the midle of the
next round, where the planet thouroughly will display the characteristics
of a sacred planet, and the two brothers can leave together for higher
work beyond human comprehension.
(6.2) Ugly rumours from Yankeestan. (25-5-03, V.V.VI)
"You have been told ... that the Masters do not trouble Themselves to attain profiency in all educational subjects ... In all Their Ashrams there are those who can supply Them with any specified knowledge which They may need at any given time or for any specific purpose. This will remain true of Those Who have attained the rank of Master, but it is not true for many senior initiates, many ... have retained their worldly knowledge, besides specialising in certain strictly mundane approaches to worldly affairs. For instance, there are adepts who are authorities upon modern financial matters, and these initiates of the fourth degree are competently preparing to institute later those newer techniques and modes of financial interplay, which will supersede the present disastrous methods; they will inaugurate a system of barter and exchange, of which modern money is the travestied symbol. This newer method of financial relationships will be comprehensively human and supersede big business and private enterprise. It will at the same time, however, retain those phases of moderne enterprise which will draw out the initiative and resourcefulness of the individual. Other initiates have specialised in various languages, and two of them are authorities in basic English; this is the form of the English language which will eventually take the place of other languages in all forms of international and business intercourse without obliterating the individual national languages in daily use in any country." A few days ago the Hungarian-American financial expert and multibillionaire George Soros announced, that he would keep an eye on the American administration of Iraq. Apart from his economic interests he has always demonstrated a clear stand on the suprimacy of human values to economic values. He has supported education of black South-African students during the appartheid regime of South-Africa, he has played a central role in the development of democracy and human rights in Eastern-Europe (not to mention his foundation of a university with several Eastern-European divisions and educational fonds), agitated rights to free abortion and rights to use most drugs in US and elsewhere (in both cases as an acceptence of the lesser of two evils) , and initiated a project on the culture of dying in US. He is strongly against preventive wars in general and the US engagement in Afghanistan and Iraq in particular, but has now insisted, that after the effective warfare the peace should be won. His activities seem always to be a pointer to the manifestation of the next steps in the hierachical Plan. He is always on the side of the open society and greater freedom to Humanity.
Indeed the difference between the modes of engagement of Bush and Blair should be notified, whether in Iraq or elsewhere. And with the resolution S/2003/556 of the UN Security Councel a week ago, the great powers are again in dialoque on central political issues, such as promoting the plan for a peacefull solution in the Middle-East. Terrorism will not end tomorrow, but the last terrorist should not be permitted to veto the progress of Humanity.
The attitude to death among islamic phanatics is however not quite wrong, though it becomes a terrible channel for the evil forces when used in terrorism. When the Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on the 29th of May, it is probably not as significantly as the celebration of his sacrificial death, symbolized with the crusifiction of the Gospels. The conception of death in both cases is more or less coupled with the fear of God (in whatever conception of the great religions), his love is blotted out in the idea. The grimness of the symbol is enough to show it cannot coexist with God. Death denies life. The resurrection is the denial of death, being the assertion of life. All living hearts are tranquil with the thought, that there is no death as such, only change of outworn forms. Life is constantly moving towards spiritual hights, and only the dark ones will not appreciate such opportunity. There is no death, only evolution and ever greater spiritual freedom . All else is illusion.
(6.3) A Course In Miracles - a modern approach to the union with God through emotional disciplines, i.e. Bhakti Yoga (5-7-03, P. Hoenix jr.)
"Is reincarnation so ? ... Like any other beliefs, it can be bitterly misused. At least such misuse offers preoccupation and perhaps pride in the past. At worst, it induces inertia in the present. In between, many kinds of folly are possible....For our purposes, it would not be helpful to take any definite stand on reincarnation. A teacher of God should be as helpful to those who believe in it as to those who do not. ... It is certain, however, that the way to salvation can be found be those who believe in reincarnation and by those who do not." (A Course In Miracles, vol. 3, p. 57)
"Can God be reached directly ? ... There are those, who
have reached God directly, retaining no trace of worldly limits and remembering
their own identity perfectly. These might be called the Teachers of teachers
because, although they are no longer visible, their image can yet be called
upon. And they will appear when and where it is helpful for them to do
so." (Op.cit. p. 61)
"Jesus - Christ... The name of Jesus is the name of one
who was a man but saw the face of Christ in all his brothers and remembered
God. So he became identified with Christ, a man no longer, but at one with
God. In this complete identification with the Christ ... Jesus became what
all of you must be." (Op.cit. p.83)
"Jesus is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, Whom he called down upon the earth after he ascended into Heaven... The Holy Spirit is described as the remaining communication link between God and His separated Sons." (Op.cit. p. 85)
The publication of the recent and the first editions of A Course In Miracles coincide with the direct impacts from Shambala, and the few years between the first and second editions have allowed for an enormeous interest in what the course actually offers: inner peace. The three books (a huge textbook, a large book with obligate exercises, and a small teacters manual) constitute in total the educational material, which is offered by the authors of this astonishing educational work.
The books were taken down over a seven year period by Dr. Helen Schucman, with the workassistence of her professional leader Dr. William N. Thetford, both highly esteemed professors of medical psychology at the University of Colombia. Their joint work was described in Journey Without Distance, The Story behind a Course in Miracles by Robert Skutch, one of the cofounders of The Foundation for Inner Peace, an organisation that also have published the miracles course, anonymously.
A major problem to Helen Schucman was the clash of the two cultures, the religious and the scientific (or was it between soul and personality...). She was brought up with Christianity, but later became an ateist and scientific researcher, leaving religion behind. When the "inner voice" said she should write, she at first denied. The voice would not let her go, and she accepted to stenography the dictations, later to be corrected and typed down with the assistence of her scientific leader, Bill Thetford. They discussed often their work, and their attitude to the whole subject is perhaps best illustrated by Helen Schucman's dilemma, as she said, she didn't believe in such messages, but she knew it was true, in this case. The material itself may be usefull to many, who want the disciplines of modern Bhakti Yoga, and as it is often said in the books, the use rather than belief in effects, is what is needed to benefit for the course. No doubt, the books are a product of a sixth ray impulse, as part of the complex cultural transformations needed in our time. The many groups, homepages and translations affirm the need of the time. Religion is not to disappear, but to become aware of the similarity of status of the major religions, all expressing the same truth, adapted to groups, place and time.
The material of this course of miracles is especially
usefull when the mystic, still egoistic, should be launched onto the Path
of Accellerated Evolution, as can be chosen by everyone today. As it is
said in the introduction of the course: not the curriculum, only the time
to start learning, is voluntary.
(6-4) The signs of August: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (12-8-03, Hem-Hem Domminoff)
"Harry's magical world can help illuminate rather than undermine science, casting a fascinating light on some of the most interesting issues that researchers struggle with today. Similarly, what we have learned from our scientific investigation in many fields can help explain many extraordinary and seemingly magical phenomena. (...) the boundary between natural and supernatural lies within the human mind. (...) A number of episodes in the Harry Potter books suggest that even its magically gifted characters acknowledge that Muggle scientists and technologists do perform a kind of magic (...) To the average Muggle, the revelations of modern science are often as obscure as a witchdoctor's spell, an incantation of the Dark Arts, or indeed the topics examined by a N.E.W.T. (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test)." (in The Science of Harry Potter, p.2&4 by Roger Highfield, Headline Book Publishing, 2002)
The fifth of the Harry Potter books (from 21th of June) resemble the others, describing a now fifteen year old disciple, though the age of his readers probably may vary. The book is of course larger, more complex and more challenging than the four others. However, in this rather scary novel, we are more than ever confronted with the need for the methods of the Aquarian discipleship. Old habbits based on emotions are utterly insufficient and if the personality flaws are not eliminated, the would-be-disciple is highly risced to cooperate (even if unconsciously) with those material forces, that only attempt to sidetrack the process. All the time we learn, that the loving heart is superior to the intellect of the lower mind.
Not only is the emotionality of the individual rejected, and the need for mental control of the emotions stressed. The tendency to place Humanity at the center and as a measure for interpretating anything else, is ridiculed, as when the education in "divination" (including astrology) is taken over by a non-human, stressing exactly this antropomorphic failure.
But if the highly intellectual disciple believe he is safe, there are many good examples of the need for impersonality. Especially pride and ambition seem to the major flaws that take the processess astray, so sadly demonstrated by Sirius Black and proffessor Snape, and to some extend the majority of characters in the book.
The tendency to heroism and self-glorification may also relate to Harry Potter, himself. First of all he is warned against unconscious aid to the dark force (through mind controle or even partial obscession). Remarks on the need for inner peace, especially prior to sleep, give the disciple a basic hint.
The outgoing Sixth Ray attitudes with its lack of freedom to other viewpoints may resemble fascisme, personified by the minister Fudge and his High Inkvisitor, Dolores Umbridge, both blinded by their own ambitions and separatism. In general freedom is only subordinated to the demand and need for character building - within the range of possibility. The remarks on "mudbloods" and "squibishes" (the fact that advanced children may apparantly have one or two ordinary "muggler" parants, just as children of magicians may lack the abilities of their parants - cf. indeed their parallel, the Platonic classes in the ideal Republic).
Some curious remarks at the end of the novel allude also to the fact, that intelligence is still the lowest aspect of the logos, subordinated to love (and of course to the higher will). It is emphasized, that only true love can protect, but the allusion to blood-relations here should not be interpreted strictly litterally, that is materialistically. We mention the concepts of Life and of Karma, both originating to our solar system from outside, via the great star Sirius.
Harry is of course in opposition to the High Inkvisitor and feeling responsible not only for acceptence of the new ideas, but also their manifestation in reality (another good reason to teach others). In general this will involve a determination to cope directly with the dark forces. This and the reference to the major three (monadic) rays, only, in the definition of the three first Houses at Hoghwarts (the fourth representing the dark side, which often seem to coincide at this stage with the personality side), demonstrate the new tendency in this educational material.
Many new group-disciples will profit by these books, if studied carefully. At the same time, no dangerous information will be decoded by those not yet ready. This goes especially for all concerning the life aspect and the higher evolutions. In spite of its traditional litterary form, and even the apparant accept of many traditions of the Piscean civilisation (of which the British school system have incorporated quite a few), to those who have eyes, the material is quite illuminating, it is Agni Yoga for the highly evolved yuth now comming into incarnation, and it is sound edutainment for all people.
The symbology (e.g. the red "evil eye") used in this book is in accordance with those of The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, where as the content is in line with the esoteric writings from Plato to Shakespeare. The truth is universal but the form, colour and language is adapted to time and space, which obviously now is the New Age of Aquarious. Many sixth ray people are now (within the next two centuries) to leave the physical plane, if they cannot enter the path, but they will be replaced with many other egoes, of which a great part initially may be on the Seventh Ray of ritual magic. Some of these egoes are quite advanced and will need early and effective training from their very yuth. To that end, the Harry Potter books will prove usefull, too.
It should however never be forgotton, that all deep symbology
has a number of interpretations beyond that of individuality.
(6-5) Anna Lindh is dead ... as are too many other political martyrs. (11-9-03, a scandinavian observer)
The 11th of September has become a symbol of fundamental values in all those fields of the world that is highly influenced by the sixth ray religions, Christianity and Islam. It has become the symbol of a better world, not only of solemn morning.
Of course the islamists have used the opportunity to release new evidence of the invincibility of the islamic values, such as yesterday, a sofisticated editing of a videotape, showing Osama Bin Laden walking in the mountains between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the symbol of islamic pride to some and the symbol of terrorism to others.
After obstructing the work of prime minister Abbas, president Arafat is close to signing his own death penalty. The Israeli cabinet pronounced today, that Arafat in principle will be expelled from Ramala, in order to avoid further obstruction of the MiddleEast peace process. And so we will have another martyr, bringing new life to the suicide killers and terrorism in general.
In the US many thougts turned to Ground Zero at Lower-Manhattan, where the symbolism of nine-one-one was revitalised if not invented two years ago, with the terrorist attacks of the World Trade Center, not to mention similar attacks on Pentagon.
Europe has experienced another political killing. In Sweden the secretary of forreign affairs, Anna Lindh, was stabbed yesterday during shopping, quite unguarded though a key politician in the Euro-refferendum ellection, to be held in three days. She died this morning, 46 years old. Anna Lindh was not only a loving wife and the mother of two sons, 9 and 12 years old, living aparantly a normal family life. She entered the public life only twelve years old (a fact that also touch certain symbolisms), and was a true internationalist and a dedicated humanist, fighting for a better world. Inspite of harsh arguments, recently against attitudes of Bush and Berlouscone, she was highly respected for her competence and integrity in the band of top politicians all over the world, as can be notified from the heartfelt condolences reaching Stockholm during the day. She was friend with Oluf Palme, who was assasignated 17 years ago for his support to the anti-appartheid movement.
The many lit candles and flowers spontaneously dropped at the crime scene in Stockholm, displays not only a deeply felt sorrow and sympathy, shared by many swedes, against this apparantly meaningless killing of Anna Lindh. It also bring to light the importance of allowing politicians to be ordinary human beings with a normal life, at least part time. Outside Scandinavia, such attitudes may be considered as an outlived innocence, but is it actually so ?
We remember the military coup d'etat in Chile, exactly 30 years ago, today. Also today, a colombian farmer and former member of parlament stabed himself in the cheast and died, close to the ongoing WTO conference. During the last decades, the political killings have become more visible also in Europe, in every political fraction. We may even expect the consequences of an electronic jihad. The Piscean perversity emphasizing death to life has indeed had its time on the screen. The political martyrs have had their function, as part of the sixth ray influences and our general karma. Now we are confronted with a new world situation. The call for international unity should not be taken astray due to emotionalism. It is part of the new civilisation. If we are slow learners, the SARS epedemic (not quite annihilated as a new case in Singapore this week shows) may assist in the process. We may in fact even expect extra-terrestrial support.
Two weeks ago an other asteroid, a minor planetoid and
as such an integrated part of the living solar system, was discovered,
heading towards planet Earth, expected to reach our planetarian system
at the 21st of Marts, 2014. In case of impact, its size would implicate
risc of global damage and a general threat to human civilisation. As usual
we can get any help needed for the evolution of mankind as an integrated
part of the system, but we hold the key to the world situation in our own
hands. The principles, the New Age civilisation will be build on, are still
the Principle of Goodwill, the Principle of Responsibility and the Principle
of Sharing. No minor group of phanatics nor the materialistic forces that
overshadow these groups will be allowed to jeopardize the new civilisation,
eventually, even if it may take strong methods and hard work. The needed
death is the death of anscient outlived values, now becomming counterforces
to the new civilisation and the return of the Christ. Fortunately
the nine-one-one symbolism will increasingly become understood of the bulk
of Humanity. The deadline for the fulfilling of the Plan of the Return
of the Christ is still around 2025, and perhaps the single best tool in
this work is the distribution and use of the Great Invocation.
(6-6) A fair future for all ... I have no reverse gear (18-10-03, Invo Cato).
This month has had its headlines, that all may be reduced to the old proverb: My enemies I can handle myself, but my friends ...". Tony Blair has finally regained his power internally in the British Labour Parti at Bournmouth, the Pope had recovered to his 25th anniversary as head of his church, a new Iraq resolution has been accepted in the UN Security Counsel, China has succesfully launched a man into space and back, and a famous filmactor will rule California for the next years, Swede has cast away an opportunity to join the Euro, while Berlousconi again as demonstrated lukewarm in relation to the needed new political reform of the EU, and in Palestain the climate for peace is worse than ever. It is in this climate of hatred, mistrust and separatism that the New Group of World Servers has to work, always attempting to make good out of evil.
From June 1936 to May 1945 the Christ had his crisis of decision, leading to his proting of the plan for His Return as a visible actor in the midst of human affairs. When He first arrived as World Teacher, manifesting both Divine Intelligence and Divine Love, Humanity was not yet ready to comprehend and implement these great principles. The mental principle had to be developed in the masses of Humanity, and thus we have seen the educational efforts of the Piscean Age, now culminating in the considered importance of science and the many ideologies, shaping a platform for further evolution. Buddha had delivered the remedy for handeling the glamours of the Astral plane, in Humanity as a whole through the enhanced possibility of Light and in the possibility for the individual to handle his desires and emotions, just as Christ later penetrated the plane of illusions and made the third initiation possible. When He return again He will have three major tasks to carry out, all stimulated by the now achieved dispensation to use the Great Invocation, since June 1945, which can be used according to understanding, just as He have used it every morning ever since, as Head of the Hierachy.
After the Decision of 1945, the Christ has been powerfully assisted in his work by three overshadowing instances: the Buddha, the Prince of Peace and the Avatar of Synthesis. The Buddha will for a while yet transmit some higher aspects of the second ray of which we use the name wisdom, thus stimulating the third aspect. The Prince of Peace is the harmonising instance, that will turn evil to good, and stimulate the second aspect. The Avatar of Synthesis will stimulate the sense of unity in Humanity and the process of coordinating the three great planetarian centers, so that by united invocation we shall receive a deep impact from a Cosmic Avatar, that will drive out the roots of Cosmic Evil in the planetarian life.
In the preparation to the Return, the Christ will work with the whole of Humanity, and ever since His great decision has a threefold stream of energy released by the three great fullmoons of 1945, attempted to facilitate the spiritual receptibility of every human being on the planet, leading eventually to a realisation of unity and establishment of right human relations, implemented by the New Group of World Servers, working through the many groups working under the auspicies of good-will. Secondly He has stimulated the fire element in those who have taken the first and second initiation, so the Will or Life aspect will become manifest on Earth, through the work of the new Group-disciples, whose practical implementation of Agni Yoga will facilitate the evocation of the Will, thus implementing not only compasionate love and right human relations but also the efficiency of the dynamically directed purpose. Finally He will stimulated the fusion of the two centers, that will bring forth the Fifth Kingdom of Soul in physical plane life, and together they will evoke the cooporation with the highest center, where the Will of God is known, and is to be implemented in dynamic plans for the next step in the evolution, involving both planetarian and extra-planetarian aspects.
In the formulation of the Great Invocation, there is incorporated many levels of comprehension and application, and if it is used as a point of tension for the daily invocation of the higher centers, the effects are unavoidable and in accordance with the general Plan. Its effects in the world is already recognizable to everyone with eyes to see and a heart to comprehend, and will become even more distinct in the next few years. Visualization and determination are closely related. The Material Forces are also using their opportunity to outballance the Forces of Light, but it should always be remembered, that these actions are anticipated by those who know. Working with the Will-to-good, the Christ will sweep the energies of the past out of the darkened spots on the Earth, and eventually the Door to Evil will be sealed. This however is only possible if the individual effort is coordinated with the Higher Will in the usual chain of descendence of idea, ideal and idol. Each group and individual has its place in the synthetic whole, and each can contribute maximally when the stage of realisation is manifested in daily life. The life of the planet is a life of dependency, from the highest to the lowest, and each has his role to play in the great work of transformation.
The Rules for Applicants and the Rules for Disciples and
Initiates display the curiculum for the next generations of workers. On
the lower octave, the social evolution may profit by acceptence of
the socalled MI-concept, the concept of the many intelligences, if materialism
is excluded.
(6-7) The role of religion in the Enlightment project, originally and now. (28-11-03, Chili Asmus)
After the warlords had tormented the continent for more than one hundred years they agreed to use other political methods to achieve their goals, and the agreement was confirmed and signed in Westphalen in 1648. One of the principles for future coexistence was that of secularity. We have here also one of the basic principles for that movement we often denote the Enlightment project. The separation of politics and religion was formally the basis for the new type of state and for the citizens of such a state. Fifty years later John Locke published the ideology for the moderne individualist: liberalism. The Enlightment movement has a reputation for exagerating the emhasis laid on reason and is often said to glorify the importance of reason, neglecting the emotional approach to life, and per se neglecting the opportunity of the many. It may be so, if we restrict our attention to a handfull of philosophers, but even so we would have to exclude so important thinkers as Rousseau and Kant, and perhaps worse, we seem to be blind to the true intentions behind the project as well as the majority of intelligent people, formating the bulk of the movement.
The main reason for the outcome of the life of Thomas More (on behalf of the later Mahachohan for the next period), and later the need for new ideas channelled by Newton, Locke and many others, was no doubt the extreme suppression of almost anybody in the societies of the late Renaissance. It would take more than a Machiavelli to govern a democracy, first of all a general enhancing of the intellectual habilities and comprehension of ordinary citizens. But even among strong personalities, the long period of idealistic religion and warfare based on dogmas, would eventually suggest a carefully chosen secularity. However such secularity was not easily achieved in daily life, due to the deepseated religious beliefs among comon (usually illiterate) people, the authority of the churches in a world of restricted knowledge and the conveniency for those in power to mix relligion and politics. Even in the constitution of the French people, after the somewhat bloody revolution in France later in the century allutions to "the highest creature" was made. And even today it is put to debate in EU, whether or not there should be any aknowledgment to what one might denote God.
The situation is not so different today. In Iraq, the american occupants seem to realise, that the foundation of a new constitution might turn out to become the first steps towards an islamic republic. The word democracy has various interpretations to various people. The need for renewal in the political processess is obvious. If one part insist on using only secular arguments in the democratic process, there is a good chance that a great number of despots and state leaders in the third world may succede to carry on their exploitations of their peoples behind a mask of religious beliefs and intentions, as long as they stimulate the formation of the traditional hostile image making towards many western countries and their inhabitants. On the other hand, there is nothing wrong in arrousing the relious beliefs of the many non-thinking people, that could and should achieve higher living standards and freedoms - it may even be a strong means to that end, and as such part of the Plan. Perhaps the only way to lower the risc of lightenings is the acceptance of religious premises in the debat. The counter arguments to anscient dogmas may still qualify the contributions of the opponents in the debates and negotiations. The total refusal to listen to arguments based on what one of the parties consider selfevident and inevitable premises, is the same as insisting on à priory superiority and lack of goodwill in comprehending the other part. And true democracy has to discuss with all parties.
It is often forgotten that religion may galvanize the participants in many directions. During the socalled Enlightment process in Europe, some of the most persecuted people in those days were the forrunners of later projects. If we e.g. consider the Pietistic movement, the christean groups that demanded purity and discipline, but first of all personal responsibility, regarding belief or disbelief. There was however at least two groups in Europe, the academic Pietism originating from the schollars of Halle, and the much smaller group of Herrnhut'er, originating from Eastern Europe, and lead by the fascinating carpenter and preacher Christian David, who made vast contributions to the christean mission in Northern Europe, yes even in Greenland (and indirectly to the poor mans Methodist church). Christian David wrote even a thesis on the first verses of the Sermon of the Mount, that interpreted the text so, that the salvation and holiness was a self-initiated project, and not only something to be asked for and believed in. The dogma of initial sinn insisted that only conditioned by the sacrifice/crusifiction of the Christ could any sinner afterwards hope for the promissed salvation. The Herrnhut'er were in those days quite similar to the group of young rebells initiating the socalled yuth-revolution in the West around 1968, but this happened around and after 1630. Though they today is a small group of elderly "brothers and sisters", their importance in the later revolutions, religious, politically and ideologically, should not be forgotten. As today, the importance did not lay in the knowledge of theological doctrines and exegeces, but in their very practical approach to human life and christianity. They practiced ecomenic communication with any christean sect, yes even with judes, and they practised equality between the ages and between the sexes, put human needs before christean dogmas, and for short, personalized the principle of goodwill in those days.
Let us not forget, that the formation of the new civilisation
of the Age of Aquarious is the true enlightment project, that have had
many forrunners. In this interim period the Principle of Godwill, along
with the Principle of Responsibility and the Principle of Sharing is what
we should implement, and as always there is much complexity to be handled
be means of the simplicity of the principles. True enlightment is a project
for heart as well as head.
(6-8) "Il Signore degli Anelli" - and a happy New Age (2-1-04, Will Kommen)
With The Return of the King we have had the small version of the third and last film of The Lord of the Rings, and have now only to wait a few month for the directors cut, probably extended with another hour and lots of superprofessional care. The Return of the Christ may be less recognized by the public, as are his forrunners today. But that is also only the small version. With less limitations on the higher versions, and more than three short cycles.
With the capture of Sadam Husein and the earthquake in
Iran, much negative energy has been lifted from the ground, in this region
of tension and change.
We also praise God, that the decision of when and how
to leave our bodies are coordinated outside buildings of simple geometric
thoughtpower.
With the foundation of The New Group of World Servers the Hierachy have put name and form to an eternal idea. When there is enough tension between a positive and negative pole, or centers of different polarity since all this has to be relative concepts, a bridge can be build prior to fusion of the two poles. In this context, we would never attribute the event with emotional response, but what is the difference, at least from a certain perspective ? Speed and motion are also relative concepts. If we consider the fusion as an explosion, we might remind of the long period of transferrence by a specific particle from one center to another. Its motion is more a change in vibration. Affinity in vibration is used also beyond the Plane of Emotions.
With the needs of the comming Age, we introduce the concept of the collective bridge build out of all the individual antahkaranas are bridges between higher and lower polarity, between the aspects of the planet, itself just a minor center in the system supervised from Sirius Black. In daily life however it changes the scope of information critically, and makes the new civilisation evolve.
With the end of a life period a pralay will be instigated, and the form no longer needed can now be anihilated by some black hole, not a cosmic disaster but a punctual garbage collector, only taking what is left over from the planned evolution in the greater system. The higher life is entered, while the combustation of the form materials is beneficially carried out. Should an extra-planetarian entrance of the plannet occur in e.g. China, it would primarily anihilate fourth rootrace bodies, which actually belong to one of the left over centres in Humanity. The consciousnessess in their new bodies would then gradually get fifth rootrace characteristics, which are caused by the row of permanent atoms. It should however always be rembered, that many fourth rootrace people in the West were already tested during the World Wars 1914-45, and much substitution is in process in the countries that participated in the wars, when enhanced, new bodies karmically have become possible to the majority.
With just another planned failure by Berlosconi, the Italian
interim head of the EU, and as such responsibel for the new tractatum bill
writing, new energy must stream to the UN institution, so that it can again
lift the world situation, while the Irish take over in the EU, and try
their skills of harmonizing the higher and lower.
Since Bush is getting increasing hardship from his plans,
it should not be impossible for Kofi Annan to take a strong move in that
direction.
With the new year will come just a new series of problems and solutions, all towards the better world, all toward the New Age civilisation. It would still be possible to celebrate religious festivals, Christean or not. The knowledge of the purpose behind the many rites would have to become deeper than today, and no doubt films reach further than books. Let's be encouraged with our present opportunities. Let us make a peacefull world with plenty for everyone.

Your birth horoscope represents a piece of the Cosmos. It is the piece of the Cosmos that represents your world view, the reality of your inner universe, of which you are to truely know and master. Many people are born the same day, and many people have horoscopes that are very similar. We are free to use or misuse our energy any way we wish. At various times during our life we are tested, and as a result of our reactions, our life can change. Actually the life of the individual is highly correlated to other individuals, but for many reasons we usually choose to neglect this fact. We are all the center of the Universe. We believe, that our destiny is a private affair, even if we believe in reincarnation.
If we consider the business of an insect or small bird, it seems that they work so hard on basis of their very short existence, compared to the existence of a man. But they may may mesure their experience quite differently. In fact only man has a clear concept of lifeduration. Duration of the personality, of course. The cycle of the soul is quite different, as is the quality. This quality however should become a habit for the personality. Sooner or later it is realised, that life goes on, life after life, and that the sting of death no longer exist. Death of the personality is followed by the birth of a new one, and for the first time in the history of man, death no longer marks a violent break in the long series of lives.
According to many religions, reincarnation is a fact, even if the content of the concept may vary, according to the general ethical/political/evolutionary purpose of the religion in question. The Buddhist and the Hindu both take reincarnation for granted, even if they interpretate this fact differently to the masses and to the highly evolved individual. To the latter, religious emotions and dogma are more or less replaced by philosophical thought. At the time of the birth of the Christ and the centuries before, many religious groups took reincarnation for granted. E.g. most educated greeks after Pythagoras and Plato. Among the jews, both the Essenes and the Pharisees tought the doctrin of rebirth, and only the third main sect, the Sadducees, did not. It was also tought by the Gnostics and the Manichaeans, and it was an integral part of Christianity, until the Fifth Ecumenical Council in AD 553, where the doctrin was declared a heresy, seemingly without the approval of the Pope Vergilius. In this perspective it is perhaps not so surprising, that Islam does not insist on this doctrin, and many will deny it. The esoteric groups among all the religions will of course accept the doctrin without much fuss.
The Bible, the holy book of Christianity, have undergone many transformations since the centuries where the texts were written down and collected. But even so, the rudiments of explicite references to the doctrin of rebirth are still present. The closing words of the Old Testatment predict the rebirth of the great prophet Elijah, and the Book of Matthew mentions Elias reborn as John the Baptist (Matthew, 11: 10; 14-15). Other parts of the text display a familiarity with the concept of reincarnation, showing it to be a common belief (Matthew 16: 13-14). Also Jesus the Christ spoke of more than one birth (see e.g. John, 3: 5-12), however must it be taken into account, that "to be born again" also refer to the first initiation. In another incident Peter says to Jesus: "If disease and imperfections all are caused by sin, who was the sinner in this case (a man blind from birth) - the parants or the man himself ?". Jesus replies, that "afflictions all are partial payments on a debt or debts, that have been made. There is a law of recompense that never fails - whatsoever man shall do to any other man, some other man will do to him." In this meaning we also find the jewish law saying "tooth for a tooth, life for a life." And the law is violated whether the injure is in thought, word or deed. Thus we see the Law of Cycles closely related to the Law of Karma.
Just as the life of an insect or small bird may seem short compared to the life of a man, so the life of man is just a day in the year of the greater zodiac. It takes 25920 years to make one complete passage within the entire belt of the constellations of the sideral zodiac, that is 2160 years for each sign in the zodiac (or rather constellation, since the word sign refer to a more symbolic period in the smaller zodiac of the annual cycle). Thus, if we consider these periods as a "great year" respectively a "great month" we see that a "great day" is approximately 71 years, similar to the span of mans life.
As our solar system passes through the zodiacal cycle of 12 constellations, the incomming energies condition the period of civilisation. Each may be related to one of the twelve signs, and simultaneously to the ray it is channeling at the moment. In this manner we may consider history a result of the response of Humanity, and the other evolutions, to these impacts. If we consider the present Youga only, we have the ages of Leo, Cancer, Gemini, Aries, Taurus and Pisces, each representing a new modification of our civilisation. But with Aquarious we shall enter a quite new civilisation, due to the present stage of evolution of Humanity, and due to the fact, that much Karma was worked out during the World Wars. We are entering a new Golden Age, even if it seems hard to believe at the moment. The present turmoil in the world is only the last repercussions of a fiery purification, precipitated into the physical world, but mental in nature.
The opportunities for a true planetary consciousness to emerge makes this epoch in Earth's history the most critical and exiting. There has been many "Golden Ages" before, but never has the bulk of the intelligentsia been so aware and responsive to the planetary forces involved. Let us consider throw a little light on the past. The Age of Leo (ca. 10.800-8640 B.C.) was indeed a "Golden Age", since the many priest-kings walked among men and offered their powers to Humanity, for which they were recognised by ordinary man. Their radiation from the head was allowed visible, and the golden crown of kings is just a symbolic expression of this golden past, as is the bishops crozier with its head shaped as the astrological symbol of the sign Leo. Then came the Age of Cancer (ca. 8640-4680 B.C.) with its cult of the Great Mother and the development of mans emotional nature, that lies at the root of every religious practice. As an outer symbol of all this, we saw in Europe many stone circles, marking centers of healing and light. The next age was the Age of Gemini (ca. 6840-4320 B.C.) with its nomadic life, and migrations over lands and continents. Duality was a major characteristic of this age, and we may recognize it symbolically in the rites involving the two pillars, as in freemasonry and in the greater mysteries of Eulisis in anscient Greece. People began to worship pairs of gods. Then came the Age of Taurus (ca. 4320-2160 B.C.) that involved the many great cities with its impressive buildings and temples, the outer symbol of the continoued immersing of Humanity into matter. It was in this period that Anscient Egypt rose to height and glory according to our history books (actually it was only a materialistic decline of much older greatness), great cultures on Creta (with its Minotaurus, half-man and half-bull), and in Assyria and Babylon (with its many reliefs of winged bulls). The Age of Aries (ca. 2160 B.C. to 1 A.D.) was the energetic and masculine self-expression, both nationally and individually. More symbolic, the great teachers of the age, like Abraham and Moses, were called "shepperds", even Christ himself, who also said "feed my lambs". In many ways the Jew is still living in this age. At the end of this age Jesus the Christ was born, in order to prepare the next age, the Age of Pisces (ca. 1- 2160 A.D.). Man had now to learn to contact his own ego structure and develop love and compassion. It became the age of ideals and intellectualism, hence the many clashes with phanatic personalities. The return of the Christ will demonstrate how little we actually have learned in relation to the development of the love aspect, and perhaps it could not be otherwise, as the will-aspect is still embryonic. The major change in the comming age, the Age of Aquarious (ca. 2160-4320 A.D.) will however be instigated in group formation, since individualism is just another aspect of the selfish personality, to be transcended for the common good.
Living in a certain age is more or less fictious, as it
primarily marks a kind of average development in the majority of Humanity.
Even today there are those advanced souls, that live in the Age of Capricorn
or
further. At hierachical levels there is not the great concern of more than
the practicality of goals for the comming age, even with emphasis
on the first decanate (ca. 2160-2880 A.D.), but in Shambala the whole picture
is present, and in spite of knowledge of the needed goals for the various
cycles, in order to fullfil the purpose of the planet, the eternal now
is what there is, that is, time as we understand it is just a trace of
sequential direction in the brain. Where as space is inescapable except
in periods of pralaya, since it is a great life, containing all we know
of as organs and cells, time is not. The handling of time is on of the
great tests of the disciple. No matter how hard he tries, a non-initiate
will never reach the speed and efficiency of his initiated brother. In
fact this is why the process of initiation is used in this world period.
Every progress in the individual is an integral part of the greater plan
and each chance of opportunity enthances not only some individuality but
all of Humanity. Prior to the year 2025 the New Group of World Servers
is greatly aided by lots of highly evolved new souls comming into the physical
world, and the present goal is quite simple in formulation: to establish
right human relationships all over the world. However the material forces
are still cunning. To close the door where evil dwells is a matter of individual
responsibility and action, here no salvation by substitute is possible.
So in this great process both science and churches seem to be antagonistic.
The solution is however not so far away, if we reflect a little. It is
quite true, that it is meaningless to atttempt to make concepts of aspects
of life, that is not recognisable to the unit in question. It is however
sufficient, that one person within a larger soulgroup has access to the
meaning of such concepts, since the whole group then may be informed at
etheric levels, though not necerssarily recognised in the solid brain.
This group principle is eventually applicable to the formation of a world
wide civilisation, where the purpose is stepped down, first from Shambala
to the Hierachy and then via the New Group of World Servers to the whole
of Humanity, from where it may reach the subhuman kingdoms as well. One
of the major approaches will take into account, that most personalities
will become clear expressions of some or other of the seven rays, and only
disciples will have the broad capacity in his personality. In fact this
will be one of the signs that is open to recognition. Should you however
doubt the quality of some co-worker, then look him stright in the eyes,
and insist on deeds rather than words. It is indeed a time of opportunity,
when coordinated action of head and heart is applied to the general social
evolution. And we all contribute, for better or for worse.
(6-10) Don't throw out the baby with the bath water (29-2-04, C. Lensing)
The new activity of invocation accompagnied by creative imagination carried out by the groupdisciples within Humanity will bring into being what has been called "the new heavens and the new earth", underscoring the fact that the changes involve not only Humanity but the totality of planet Earth. This intense creative activity falls into parts. First a destructive cycle, where many institutions of the piscean civilisation will be destroyed, then a cycle of restoration, where the mass of men will take part under the guidance of the restored intelligentsia, itself overshadowed by the Hierachy. These to great centers will be bridged by NGOWS, accronyme for the New Group of World Servers, and will also increasingly interact with the third great center of Shambala, and together they will eventually fuse into the major triangle of a holy planet.
The decision for all this was taken by a small but powerfull group of Masters, facing the sixth initiation. They decided to enter the Path of Earthservice, and these Chohans will stay with the head of the Hierachy until the present goal of transforming the planet into a holy planet is reached, and so together they will ascend, leaving master K.H., the next Christ, to reorganize for even higher goals.
The decision of the Chohans was the culmination of a process initiated at the conclave in 1425, where the Hierachy investigated the new energies comming into our sphere of influence. There has been many previous instances of Aquarian Ages, even double Aquarian Ages (each related to some zodiac), but never before has Humanity been able to participate consciously in the evolutionary process. For this reason it was decided to instigate a new kind of civilisation based on groups rather than individuals, which however has been the case always, though never so realized by the majority. Individuality is related to the third aspect and thus secondary to the higher aspects in this solar system.
At first and over the centuries we had group after group doing their work of some specialized character. There was the cultural groups that made their contributions within all the arts, and the political groups, that changed societies often involving some kind of revolution or warfare, prior to the reorganisation into e.g. national states, and today even larger holes. Then came other groups, latest the financial group, that eventually shall take care of the material needs of Humanity.
Early in the 20th century the masters made the needed preparations that created a large subjective group of men and women of goodwill all over the world. There is no outer structure to prove this event, but each member will recognize another member by his very method of bridging, displaying no partisanship but always recognizing the chance of opportunity to bridge the gaps, in order to create the next phase of civilisation.
Already Plato and Aristotele, and later many others related to the Renaissance and the Entlightment, insisted on the happines based on the principle, claiming universality of thought though applied locally, for the benefit of some particular field or aspect of human living, today as before related to the major cities. The NGOWS has its members all over the world and within every grouplife to be found. According to Agni Yoga, there is no aspect of human living that cannot be expressed divinely.
It is true, that we still can see the cycle of destructivity produce its results in the world of human affairs, but it is also undeniable, that the great principles of goodwill, of responsibility and of sharing increasingly are displayed in action in this world. The rehabilitation of the UN is in process and we may be closer to a world government that can be seen now, perhaps thirty years from the goal. The break-down of the economy or rather the motivation of this economy in US and other materialistic nations will change much. The capacity of the general citizen to comprehend and participate consciously in this transformation also enthances the situation. The general climate is becomming fiery, and we may agree with the danish philosopher S. Aa. Kierkegaard, who emphasized the quality of the energy of the choice. If we choose with an internalized passion of sincerety (and passion is perhaps the way of least resistence to many sixth ray people in our Piscean Age), we may choose wrongly, but due to the quality of the energy used in the choice, we will realize this, Kierkegaard says, and redo the choice and thus eventually enter the higher path towards divinity.
A characteristic for the work of Kierkegaard, as well as the work of Dostojevsky and (the center of this seventh ray ashram) Robert Browning was diversity of personality modifications, or the manifold of differentiations within the third aspect, but the simplicity of existential recognitions, all leading to higher stages. Other great writers, like Dickens and Hugo, had focus on the material surcomstances valid to the mass of people. Both types of exponents used writing (or in general: arts) to express the needed next step for certain groups. It must never be forgotten that some kind of Maslowean pyramid applies to the various stages within Humanity. Only when the personality stage is completely left behind is such material focusing superfluous.
In the new civilisation groups rather than individuals
are the basic atoms. This does not in any way violate the fact, that some
groups may have extreme (and within these group-disciples, some individuals
similarly very radical) work to do, to fulfill divine purpose and implement
the Plan. This does not either contradict the fact, that spiritual compromise
and flexibility on the formside will be needed. No partisanship is expressed
by members of the NGOWS. They always recognize the value of some aspect
of the present situation and attempt to bridge it with the next phase,
without loosing the perspective of some fixed goal. The Agni Yoga knows,
that the general public allways reject the first attempts towards true
betterment. They know, that the material forces have a strong grip on the
masses, and even more on the increasing number of dominating personalities
in the world. The "closing of the door, where evil dweels" takes place
within each individual, now governed by egotism and selfhood, and acceptance
of the esoteric teaching on the new civilisation is an excellent starting
point.The masses now need freedom to think for themselves, just as the
intelligentsia needs opening up of the intuition. Eventually the New Group
of World Servers will govern the planet and thus redeem Humanity, all within
the Plan and the fixpoints of the time-scheedule.
(6-11) Pisces and possessions: watch Cyprus ! (O. Possum, 3-4-04).
In the Pythagorean societies sharing, not poverty, was the rule. Any human being has material needs to be taken care of, and even the masters have to consider their selfconstructed sheats as something needing their skills and consciousness at times. Spirituality is not anti-materialistic, it recognises the needs of any stage.
It is a typical sixth ray property to allow human beings into the extremes. So with possessessions and the ideal of poverty, as practised in periods within some of the christean groups and orders. What we have to learn today is simply, that sufficient is enough, and that vast or luxury today always is on the cost of somebody else.
The Blessed One asked in general not to think of ownership of property, for renunciation is cleansing of thought. For only through purified channels can basic striving make its way.
During the crossing into the Subtle World there flash out all the aspects of the feeling of possession, which troubles even people, who are not at all bad. One should assiduously keep in mind this circumstance, and be affirmed upon the realisation that earthly possession does not exist. A great deal has been said about personal possession, but only the fiery states can be prove the illusion of such sense of possession. Only when our consciousness remains our sole possession do we freedom of ascent. It is very difficult to balance the ascent which goes beyond the middle strata of the Subtle World. Therein people do not even think of parting without various kinds of property; indeed they exist just by means of these attractions. But if a higher consciousness raises their consciousness a bit, there begins an incredible conflict.
It is not easy to gain respect for earthly creativeness, yet liberate oneself from the sense of possession. He who feels the grandeur of Infinity will certainly understand the entire incommensurability of illusory possession on so transitory a place as Earth. He who understands the magnitude of the creativeness of thought will value the sublime in all earthly creativeness. Hence, let us perceive the great Path and give over the fruit of our labor to those who come after us, those who will follow and continue this bond of perfectness.
With the greater powers come the greater responsibility. We have to destinguish between a World-server and a World-savior. The latter has to unfold his flaws and vices, as well as virtues, so that the world become enhanced. A global benefit has to be established and a global threat has to be cleared away. All in a spectacular way. The server in general may be more invisible and to some extend may have to go one with the wallpaper, in order to do the job. However also these senior disciples will eventually become more visible, when their true value to society become known, as part of the new world religion. For the moment, it suffice to repeat the use of the basic principles towards the new civilisation. It will be a civilisation with new values, and the emphasis on groupwork will become clear. In a curious way much of the material needs will show to be nothing but compensations for the loneliness most people can sense almost every day, as if loneliness is fundamental to living. It is not. It may be right, that universality is the only state of being, and individuality is the only way of perception, but only on the personality levels is this loneliness a threat. At the level of soul, there is relationship and groups, all formed by the attractive energy of love. On the higher levels, even love is replaced by a more fiery energy, but the higher always include the lower.
Today the formation of all sorts of groups is in process.
These groups will increasingly dominate that of the individual. It is not
always a pleasant experience to the sixth ray worker, who prefer groups
with a leader and a clear hierachy, based on individuality, if not neglect
of this phanatic and headless individualism, that carries with it
so much pain and agony. The new groups will be autonomic and the likes
and dislikes of the personality will no longer be allowed to dominate the
work. The love will be directed along the work rather than along the groupmembers,
and this kind of impersonality is perhaps on of the characteristics of
the true new age groups, radiating impersonal love and a welldefined direction.
The anscient values based on separatism and materialism will be replaced
by more lasting values, and this increasing goalfittness will eventually
make the new civilisation of the shining ones. Remember, we are never alone,
and we are never confronted with problems beyond our capacity. The steps
towards perfection are welltrodden and though the kernel is eternal, the
methods have to be reformulated, so the bulk of humanity may profit. And
the building is allready in process. The new age is more than a distant
dream, it is becoming a reality just in front of our eyes.
(6-12) The power of Goodwill is underestimated by the public (F. I. Shing , 24-4-04)
The power of Goodwill is underestimated in the public - it is active and bridgebuilding, wwhere as tollerance often only agrees passively. In St.Luke 14.23 we read, that Jesus insist on using force in the redemption process, so obviously any esoteric interpretation might contradict the ordinary. However explicite tollerance is more an aspect of Aquarious than Pisces.
Already John Locke wrote a treatise on the subject, which is for some reason rarely taught or read, where as his 1.st and 2.nd Treatise, emphasizing the rights of the individual, based on natural law, is well known to any student of philosophy or politics. Nevertheless the idea of tollerance is behind the Entlightment Project, which was initiated in the last decanate of Pisces though it only became individualistic with John Locke. The great influence of his work had not been possible without the agreement of the principle of tollerance, at least with respect to choice of religion as agreed upon at the peace tractatum in Westphalen 1648. A state should be based on the principle of secularity, allowing the freedom of religion to its citizens, or at least the freedom of sects within Christianity. This was the culmination of more than a century qualified by an immensity of killings: the french religious war (1562-93), the german Thirty Years' War (1618-48), the civil war in Great Britain (1642-49), persecution of the anabaptists (1525-1618) and intensification of witch-burnings (1580-1650).
Also Voltaire wrote on the subject (in 1762) as did earlier Pierre Bailes, danish Ludvig Holberg, and many others. The major idea was, that a good christean should be tollerant simply based on the concept of faith contrary to the concept of knowledge: since no one can be sure, it should be incalculated that our interpretation of God could be false. The tollerance should also cover the jude, tyrk or chinese, according to Voltaire.In 1778 G.E.Lessing wrote his fameous allegory on tollerance, five acts on verse: Nathan the Wise. A new turn of the project of Erasmus around 1500. The true ecomenic attitude was however still very theoretic in the mind of the public, as it is today.
Some of the most influencial on this subject seem to be the utopean writers, who ever since Utopia (1516) of Thomas More seem to have adopted the principle above. To avoid the risc of insulting the churchmen as well as the statesmen, they often used the technique of displaying the situation in their own society by a raport from some exotic or alien society. In Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels (1726) we read on the criticism of intollerance based on the interpretation of some of the sacaraments, "... a difference in oppinion ... in things indifferent...", cf. also Montesqueu's Lettres Persanes (1621).
These writings also seem to have served as model for Ludvig Holbergs satire Nicolai Klimii Iter Subterraneum (published anonymously in Leibzig, 1741, but soon translated to many lanquages, such as english: The Subteranean Travel of Niels Klimm). A young student falls into a deep hole inside a mountain, and discovers that the Earth is hollow, containing a tiny planet, Nazar, under which is a solid firmament. Strange societies are portraied. On the firmament e.g. we find Matinia, a society of abes and monkeys, who adopt the french style of fulll-bottomed wigs very eagerly, when suggested by the student, who is knighted for his great discovery. On the planet Nazar different nations are inhabitated by different species of trees. In one place (with clear allusion to Denmark), all trees are cypresses, with eyes, but with a great variety in form and number. The majority here have eyes oblong and their view is taken as the only valid. Rulers and priests are chosen from this class, and only those, who sollemnly swear that the holy sun-tablet is oblong, may become servants of the state. Of course a few of these servants admit in private, that the tablet seem differently shaped to them...

Thomas Bredsdorff, former Cambridge professor and scollar, has made the
above analysis, and discovered some stages in the history of tollerance,
from the peace tractatum in Westphalen 1648 to the UN Bill of Human Rights,
from 1948. The next step along this line seem to be the modern Principle
of Godwill, aiming to bridge any cleavage between human beings. If we adopt
this principle, we not only elevate the world, but also expand the flow
between soul and personality, which should be unblocked to assure
optimal health. This goes for individuals as well as nations.
