What is multimedia?
- Multimedia is the integration of all sorts of media into
one presentation.
- It is also called hypermedia
- Media may include video, music, voice, graphics, and
text,
- User participation or interactivity is an essential
feature of multimedia.
- Multimedia can be used in presentations, demonstrations,
entertainments, and Web Page design.
Multimedia Presentation
- A multimedia presentation is typically organized into a
series of related pages.
- Each page presents information.
- Each page can provide a link (connection) to
related information.
- Links can be made to video, sound, graphics, text files,
other pages, or other resources.
- Special areas on a page, called buttons, allow you
to make the appropriate links.
- You can navigate through pages of multimedia
presentation through links.
- The user can direct the flow and content of the
presentation through selection of link.
Storyboards
- The planning phase of a multimedia project uses a design
tool called storyboards.
- Storyboards are used to record the intended overall
logic, flow, and structure of the multimedia presentation.
- Individual storyboards specify the content, style,
and design of each display.
- Individual storyboards also specify links to video, audio,
graphics, text, or other media.
Authoring Programs
- Special software called authoring programs are
used to create multimedia presentations
- Authoring programs bring together video, audio, graphics,
and text elements in an interactive framework.
- Widely used authoring programs include:
- Macromedia
Director
- Authorware
- Toolbook
