Web Site Design Process
- Start with determining overall content to be communicated.
- Break down content into a series of related pieces of
information.
- Represent overall site design in a graphical map
with blocks representing pieces of information.
- Design Home Page:
- Represents the opening page of the presentation.
- Should present overall content of presentation
- Should have links to pages with specific pieces of
information
- May include sound, video, and animation to enhance
interest and interactivity.
Creating Web Pages
- Web pages on a Web site are displayed using HTML
documents.
- Text editors can be used to to create web pages with HTML
code.
- Word processing packages can also be used to create web
pages, even without knowledge of HTML code.
- Special web-authoring software, called Web or HTML
editors, can be used to create sophisticated web pages. Web-authoring
software:
- Provide support for Web site design and HTML coding.
- Widely used to create sophisticated commercial sites.
