Roccaravindola
Old Postcard
of Roccaravindola brought back by my late grandfather, Pietro Palumbo,
when he visited in 1970.
Photograph taken from Monteroduni showing Roccaravindola in the distance, on a hill. This part of Roccaravindola is now largely abondoned and the town is mainly concentrated on the lower plain.
The residents of Roccaravindola rely mainly on subsistence farming.
When my father lived in Roccaravindola, the people were not prosperous,
but were self-sufficient. They produced practically everything they needed.
For example, this is a photograph of an old olive oil factory (antico oleificio).
The large wheel was used to crush the olives before going to a press.
