My Russian is very bad, but I have been attempting "Winter Evening" by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. It still needs a lot of refining. I don't think that this was the easiest poem to start with, because it is very hard to get the meaning across in English and still keep the flavor of the poem. I'll keep working on it, until I get it right. For anyone who is good at this, and wants to give me advice, I would be glad to hear from you.
I also have done a poem called "TO...." also by Pushkin. I think I did a little better on this one.
The next one is called "I Loved You", and is by Pushkin as well. This poem was also set to music.
I just finished a fourth one by Pushkin called "The Flower". I translated this poem because it reminded me of the flower I have pressed in my book of Pushkin's works. The flower is now on that web page.
If you would like to read more Russian Literature I have translated, please check out my literature page.
The Flower was added on 12/6/97

You should also visit my friend the Ugli Coyote, who inspired me to translate Russian Poetry, even though I don't know what I am doing! He's a real cool guy! He also gave me an award which you can see on my home page. Ugli is an English teacher and poet, with a great sense of humor. I think his students must be very lucky.
Another good site at RIT has poems of Pushkin, Akhmatova, Lermontov, and Blok translated into English.
Another page of Pushkin's works can be found on Katharena's page.
