While I was researching the Shelton Family of Pittsylvania County, Virginia, the paper trail led to the old soldier, Colonel Haynes Morgan, who lived in the 1700's in the eastern part of the County near the Halifax County line.

Colonel Morgan began his military career in 1758 in the 80th British Regiment, then served as a Minuteman, and became a Colonel fighting against the British during the Revolutionary War. Colonel Morgan continued in the Virginia Militia after the War.

I wondered why little was written about this important Virginian; and so I began several years of research, that included finding the home site and grave of Colonel Morgan.
