Dr. Jasminko Karanjac, Consultant Hydrogeologist
- From January 2007; Team Leader for EPTISA Internacional (Spain) in a EU-financed PHARE project: Integrated Management of Transboundary Groundwater
between Bulgaria and Romania in Dobrudja/Dobrogea Area - Technical Assistance to ensure transboundary groundwater management using the WFD and Groundwater Directive.
- March 2006 - ongoing. Hired by Arcadis Euroconsult through Eptisa Internacional (Spain) as hydrogeologist, Karanjac contributes to the project "Improvement of Management of Transboundary Water Resources in Macedonia" - an EU project executed by European Agency for Reconstruction. Specific tasks: Dojran Lake Hydrogeology, Monitoring of ground water in Gevgelija Plain, modeling ground water system in Gavato Polje, establishment of GWIS for Gavato Polje, overall increase of ground water awareness in Macedonia, compliance with EU Water Framework Directive and Groundwater Directive.
- August-September 2005. Accra-Tamale, Ghana. Stakeholders in water supply sector in Ghana have accepted the Ground Water for Windows (GWW) software of which Karanjac is co-author, as national platform for ground water data management. Under a USAID project, Dr. Karanjac was hired by World Vision USA and Desert Research Institute Nevada to deliver 2-week training workshop in ground water data processing, visualization and management. He also delivered two presentations at International Conference on Hydrogeological Data Management that was held in Accra on 1 September 2005.
- Afghanistan, April-May 2005. Consultant Hydrogeologist with SMEC International (Australia) in "Western Basins Water Resources & Irrigated Agriculture Technical Assistance", an Asian Development Bank-financed project. Wrote the report "Ground Water Assessment of the Hari Rud Basin" and specifications for (A) drilling monitoring wells, (B) monitoring network (water levels and quality), (C) geophysical explorations (TDEM, VES, and borehole logging), (D) water quality analyses, and (E) mathematical modeling.
- April 2000-July 2004
- Professor, Chair and Graduate Co-ordinator in Water Resources Management at the University of the West Indies. In the academic year 2003/04 taught the following courses:

- EM641 Water Resources of the Caribbean Countries & Territories
- EM644 Mathematical Modelling of Ground Water Flow and Fate of Contaminants
- EM645 GIS & GWIS in Water Resources
- Author of the CD titled "Water Resources of the Caribbean Countries & Territories" - a reference compilation of most up-to-date information and data.
- Various water resources management issues in the Caribbean (Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, etc.).
- Re-assessment of ground water availability in the Dominican Republic. A GWIS for the whole country (about 1900 wells in database and information system) and simplified math. model for the Coastal Plain (Planicie Costera Oriental). Consulting work for International Resources Group, Ltd., Washington, DC, on behalf of a USAID project. Report submitted to IRG in November 2002. Work conducted in three missions in October-November 2002 and April 2003 (training to local professionals in creating and using a GWIS). Reassessing ground water legislation, institutional capacity building.
