History
Build in 1968, SMK Subis is one of the oldest school in Miri Division. The site was once owned by Tuai Andam, an Iban village head. It was cleared to make way for school buildings. The school was afficiated by Penghulu Tawi Sli, who was the Chief Minister on 17 November 1969.
SMK subis is located 2 km away from Batu Niah Town. The Niah Cave, the world oldest known cave are olny about 45 minute walk away.

School Objective

Sekolah Menengah Kerajaan Subis has its own objective, ambition and goals. With that, our students and teachers can focus on achieving these goals. Only with the proper focus can we really work to improve our school. The following is a short list of our schools objective and goals: 

To improve the quality of education. 

To develop a change positive enviroment.

To create a conducive climate for learning.

To develop and maximize the students' potential through curricular and co-curricular activities. 

To become an institution of quality that can be trusted and exemplified. 

To be the best in delivering superior service and education

To foster close relationships and co-operation with other institutions and departments, especially locally, in line with the "Caring Society" theme.

Extra Curuculum
The extra-curricular activities are divided into three categories--
the uniform bodies such as Girl Guides, St. John Ambulance, etc.
clubs/societies such as Chinese Language Society, etc.
games/sports club such as Athletics, etc.
t is compulsory for every student to take part in at least two extra-curricular activities, and one of them must be a uniform body. The other activity can be a society or a club. Each and every student is encouraged to participate actively in the extra-curricular activities of their liking.
