Sexual Abstinence
The Separation Period 

The forty days following the Blessing is a meaningful time for each couple. Just as holy people of all religions have carried out forty days of fasting, couples who have received the Blessing are enjoined to offer this forty days as a period of sexual abstinence. 

Many couples have discovered from experience that this Separation Period can be a significant step in the process of transformation and renewal. 

Sexual abstinence is an honored tradition in all religions. On the spiritual level, problems are often worked out during this time. Moreover, the act of love itself takes on a new dimension of sacredness after offering the period of separation.
