Douglas Englebart To make viewing easier and increase user speed, Engelbart is credited with developing the mouse. Before the mouse, all commands were fed into a computer using the keyboard. When Engelbart first developed the mouse 30-years ago, it was made of a wood housing that had wheels placed at right angles to track with the cursor. This was the first time in history that a person could simply point to a place in a computer file being displayed and choose something to edit. Together with a graphical user interface (GUI), also developed by Englebart, the mouse provided a more logical way to access and edit computer files. |
