Magicians use live props that often run across the stage or fly out of hats, as well as other attention-grabbing effects to direct viewer's attention away from tricks and sleight of hand. In contrast, multimedia presenters use the same delivery techniques, the smoke and mirrors of visualized effects, to focus their viewers' attention on presentation content, so that the content will be remembered even when it's competing with a heavy lunch or a dimly lit conference room.

Presentation Environment

The presentation environment refers to the way in which one presents the information to the user. Multimedia projects usually use computer monitors or kiosks as the presentation environment. The most important design feature, Heba indicates, is an information map. The information map is like a main menu or table of contents in the specific multimedia title , directing and guiding the user to all the information available and how to get to it. Once the information map is in place, the environment displayed on the monitor is made up of three important elements: slides, portals, and buttons (132).
