Buckelew, of Uvalde Co., to Wilson O'Bryant, of Bandera Co., for 60 coin dollars, 51 acres in Uvalde Co. bounded by the main Sabinal Creek, the S line of Survey No. 937 of a league & labor patented to a Jamie. The land had been conveyed by F. Girand, Director of the European & American Emigration Society in Texas to Thomas Buckelew. Signed by Buckelew in Sabinal llValley and ack the same day before C. Montague, Bandera Co. JP. Recorded 3 May 1872 by Wm E. Westerfield, Dist Court Clerk of Bandera Co. From transcribed copy from Bandera Co., 256.

1931, Bexar Co., TX, Death Certificate, # 45570: Thomas J. Buckelew, 150 Birch St., San Antonio, died 8 Oct 1931, at 80 yrs, 2 mos, 7 days. He was born 1 Aug 1851 in TX, and had been a farmer. His wife's name was Margaret, and they lived in San Antonion for 19 yrs. His father was Jim Buckelew, b. La; mother, Sarah McAdams, birthplace left blank. Buried in Roselawn Cem. on 9 Oct. Informant was William Lawson of the above address. From copy of orig. [Ruby Frostrom noted other sources show that Thomas was born in AL. Also that Lawson was a son-in-law.]

In the book, "The Trail Drivers of Texas", by Joe McCoy; both Sandy Buckelew (page 150) and B.C. Buckelew (Page 1032) are listed as driving cattle herds on the Chisholm Trail in Texas.
[My note: Probably brothers Thomas Jefferson and Berry Champion Buckelew.]

About 1877 when Thomas Jefferson was 25, he married Margaret Ann Eaton, daughter of Eaton. Born on 18 June 1851 in Ark. Margaret Ann died on 18 December 1941; she was 90. Nickname: Anna.

On 25 April 1877 when John Henry was 19, he married Arminta Margaret Smart, daughter of J. D. Smart (3 September 1818-6 April 1878) & Elizabeth (26 December 1817-18 June 1893). Born on 12 April 1861 in LaSalle Co., TX. Arminta Margaret died on 20 April 1946; she was 85.

My great grandmother (dtr of James and Elizabeth) often talked about visiting Minta (Arminta Margaret) and Tom (Maybe that was a
nickname they had for him) Buckelew in Capitan, New Mexico. James and Elizabeth also came to live in Capitan after Elizabeth became sick on a visit.
