On 13 December 1865 when James Polk was 20, he first married S. A. Gabel, in Lawrence, TN. Born in 1846. S. A. died in 1922; she was 76.

They had one child:
5163 i. Andrew Alexander (1868-1936)

James Polk second married Mamie Miller.

3001. John Calvin Tays. Born on 1 December 1846 in TN. John Calvin died in Lawrence, TN, on 5 January 1932; he was 85. Buried in At Rest Cemetary, Lawrence Co., TN.

On 7 February 1872 when John Calvin was 25, he married Mary Catherine Gabel. Born in 1849. Mary Catherine died in 1889; she was 40.
