3471. Bacyle William Buckalew. Born on 18 February 1912 in Mason Co., WV. Bacyle William died in Pt. Pleasant, Mason Co., WV, on 12 November 1990; he was 78. Buried in Forrest Hills Cem., Flatrock, WV. Occupation: Teacher and farmer.

"On a Sunday at his mother's old homeplace, Bacyle gave his first squeal, making this three generations being born in the same place. Bacyle's uncle had seen the name Bacyle in a book and requested his sister, Bertha, name her son William Bacyle. As with others, Bacyle decided to put what he called at the beginning, so, in later life he was Bacyle William Buckalew. When he was six years old the family moved from Ohio to Popular Creek near Gunville in Mason Co., WV.

"Bacyle taught for 39 years in the Mason Co., WV, school system. During this time he taught in 16 one-room school houses and before his retirement taught at Roosevelt Elementary School. He had attended Salem College and Morris Harvey College. For many years he maintained an 80 acre farm. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnatti Reds and listened and watched on radio and television."

Bacyle William married Lora Louisa Workman (Private), daughter of Thomas Workman & Elsie Hill.
