Frederick Jackson "Jack" Buckelew provided this obit from the 27 Apr 1945 Clarke Co., AL, Tribune: "John Wesley Buckalew, prominent citizen of Stonewall, died at 3:00 p.m. on 4-19-1945. He was 68 years, 2 months, 10 days old. For many years he was a most valuable employee of Stonewall Cotton Mills.

"Survivors include 4 daughters; Mrs. D. G. Taylor, West Point, GA; Mrs. C. L. Martin; Mrs. Minnie Creighton and Mrs. Robert B. Walters--all of Stonewall. One son, William E. of Stonewall. 14 grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter. One brother, J. H. Buckalew of Panama City, FL., one sister, Mrs. C. F. Hahn, of Laurel."

1917 Clarke Co., MS Selective Service Records: b. Feb 9, 1876; works for Stonewall Cotton mills; wife, Alice; Medium height, medium weight, blue eyes, light hair.

On 13 May 1901 when John Wesley was 24, he married Alice Payne, in Clarke Co., MS. Born on 5 July 1875. Alice died on 3 July 1927; she was 51. Buried in Stonewall Cem., Stonewall, Clarke Co., MS.
