JOSEPH BUCKELEW, AGE 70, PISCATAWAY

Joseph R. Buckelew, 70, of Piscataway died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.

Born in New Brunswick, he lived there before moving to Piscataway 60 years ago. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed as a union electrician for Local 456 of New Brunswick for 40 years, retiring in 1994.

He was a communicant of St. Peter's R.C. Church, New Brunswick.

He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (O'Leary) in 1989; a brother, James, and a sister, Mary Peterson. Surviving are two sons, Joseph R. II and his wife, Susan, of East Brunswick, and Robert J. and his wife, Celeste, of Wall Township; a daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Desmond, of Nahant, Mass.; four brothers, Edmund of Freehold, Richard of Florida, Harold of Milltown and William of Piscataway; a sister, Anne Frank of Whiting, and five grandchildren, Joseph III, Brian and Robert Buckelew, Victoria and Jennifer Desmond.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. from Boylan Funeral Home, 188 Easton Ave., New Brunswick, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass at St. Peter's R.C. Church, New Brunswick. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call Monday, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mil. Svc.:: Korea 1953-55. (waved a Job deferment, had to go, it was the "American Thing to Do it those days"!)

Joseph R. married Elizabeth O'leary. Elizabeth died in 1989.
