9113. Frances Gay Nell Barnes. Born on 28 August 1922 in Selma, AL. Frances Gay Nell died in Sherman, TX, on 9 June 2001; she was 78. Buried on 13 June 2001 in Swisher Cem., Lake Dallas, TX. Nickname: Sissy.

Obituary:

WHITESBORO -- Gay Nell Branam, 78-year-old Whitesboro resident, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Wilson N. Jones North Campus in Sherman.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 13 in the North Avenue Baptist Church in Whitesboro with the Rev. Ernest Sigrest officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Swisher Cemetery in Lake Dallas, Texas.

Mrs. Branam was born on Aug. 28, 1922, in Selma, Alabama, daughter of the late Albert W. and Katie (Buckelew) Barnes. She graduated from high school in Mobile, Alabama. She married W.M. (Bill) Branam on Aug. 4, 1945, on the Red Court House steps in Dallas, Texas.

She retired from Crain Chemical Company in Dallas, Texas as
credit manager. She was a longtime member of North Avenue Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years, and was a longtime pianist for North Avenue Baptist Church. She was also a former president of the Grayson County Women on Mission.

Surviving are her husband, W.M. (Bill) Branam of Whitesboro; sons, Bob Branam of Danville, Virginia, John Branam of Mesquite, Texas and Tim Branam of Whitesboro; daughters, Nell Webb of Whitesboro, Joyce Campbell of Lake Dallas, Texas and Suzanne Maybank of Charleston, S.C.; sister, June Arnold of Fairhope, Ala.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Huff Funeral Home in Whitesboro from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12.

Frances Gay Nell first married Paul Shaffner Thompson.

They had one child:

On 4 August 1945 when Frances Gay Nell was 22, she second married William Mason Branam, in Dallas; Dallas Co., TX. Nickname: Bill.

9114. Charles William Barnes. Born on 3 August 1924. Charles William died in Washington State, in 1994; he was 69.

1994: Died, and his wife had him cremated. Scattered 1/2 of ashes on Puget Sound. Mailed half to his mother, Katie, who carried them to Selma and had them buried in the family plot in New Live Oak Cemetery. (per Frederick Jackson "Jack" Buckelew)
