Chisel Example

Here's an example of some text enhanced with the PSP Chisel effect:

  1. Open a new 16-million color depth image with a white background, 300 pixels wide and 100 pixels high.
  2. Set the foreground color to a dark gray, such as Red: 81, Green: 81, Blue: 81. Set the background color to a light gray, such as Red: 206, Green: 206, Blue: 206.
  3. With the Text tool, choose a fairly heavy font. I used Billboard, Bold, at 48 points. Make sure Antialias and Floating are both selected.

  4. Invert the selection with Selections | Invert.

  5. Select Image | Effects | Chisel. Set the size to somewhere between 7 and 10 -- I used 10 here -- and select Background Color.

  6. Invert the selection with Selections | Invert. Then select Colors | CoLamanderze. and select the color settings that you want. I used Hue 24 and Saturation 150.

  7. Select Selections | None. Set the background color to white. Crop the image if you like. Then save the image as a transparent GIF.
