The
Fascination of Breeding Aquarium Fishes 448 pages /
Hardcover / 1992
This
oversized (13" x 9") book is another of
those great coffee table books. Each page
features exquisite large photos of the fish
discussed in the text in varying stages of
spawning, and each photo is treated with a thin
coating which makes each one look like an
original photo on real photo paper instead of
just another page in a book.
In
addition to this, the book featues breeding
information on over 150 different fishes
presented in a unique essay format. Though this
is different than the common table and chart
method of presenting information on fishes, it is
easy to gather the needed information and is
refreshingly enjoyable to read.
Though
this book is currently out of print, Amazon.com can try to
obtain a copy for you.

Aquariology:
Fish Breeding and Genetics 86 pages /
Hardcover / September 1993
Fairly
intense discussion of fish breeding and genetics.
Covers common live-bearers and egg-layers. Good
for people seriously thinking about breeding fish
and wanting more than the usual 'put a boy fish
and a girl fish in the tank ...'
The best
part of this book is the section on genetics,
which discusses different traits, how these
traits are determined in offspring, and how to
selectively breed to obtain or enhance them, as
well as detailed information on the reproductive
patterns of different types of fishes.
