Johann Christian Hauss was one of the Palantine refugees who arrived in the Hudson River Valley of New York in 1710. He was naturalized on 11 Oct. 1715, Albany Co., NY. It is assumed that his first wife died on the voyage over to the new world. Later records show that he and his wife Maria Catherine had 8 children at Neu-Heesburg on the Hudson River. A son, Reinhard settled in the Hackensack, NJ area; an area known to have been an early settlement area of Palatines.
