GK / AGENCE 'X' Gavin Keeney is a self-styled aesthetician and teaches occasionally in Architecture schools in the United States and abroad. He has written and lectured extensively on the ‘divine’ intersection of the Arts, foremost Architecture and Fine Art, and the return to Philosophy and Metaphysics as the return of the proverbial repressed. As an avowed anti-modernist, his scope is the promiscuous undercurrents in Representation Itself (its ‘rhizosphere’, if you wish), from antiquity to the Present-Present (‘Now’), inclusive of works of a high-modernist sensibility insofar as they contain an irrepressible Something Else (depth beyond measure, sign and trace of the ‘catastrophe’/ the catastrophic). "The simplest, most elementary mark, the cross, was interpreted by Mondrian in a mystical sense before Le Corbusier saw in it, minus by minus, the sign of positivity; this mark brings together the masculine and feminine elements in the coitus of vertical and horizontal." --Hubert Damisch, "Toward a Tomb for Adolf Loos", Grey Room 01 (Fall 2000) Contact / For a printable version of this document, plus contact details, cliquez ici (RTF) ...
