I heard anger, love, wistful longing, all the things that people do think about beauty. I did a lot of reading, researching, Naomi Wolfe's The Beauty Myth, Autobiography of a Face, those kinds of books, but didn't really talk about it before I wrote Skin Deep. It was a very personal experience writing the book, cathartic for me in some ways. Since it's been published, I've talked to lots of people about beauty. It's an enormous topic. Skin Deep should have been three times as long. Not really, but I hope to continue exploring it in other books. Thank you, thank you. Diana |
