Hadith
Allah sent His last Prophet, Muhammad
and the last Holy Book "The Quran", a complete guide for
the human being of this world. The Quran is a guide for all Humanity while the Life of Prophet
Muhammad
is a living example of how to formulate ones life according to the instructions set forth in The Quran.
Muhammad
was blessed with Allahs knowledge, infact he was a model for all his people and for all the peoples of
the world. His companions used to consult him in problems, difficulties and get his advise in every matter they face
in their life. Those statements, orders and advises were recorded by his faithful companions which came to be known as
"Hadith", while the legal way or ways, acts of worship, orders and statement of the Prophet Muhammad
are known as "Sunna",
which literally means Legal Ways.
Hadith on "Tauhid"
The purely unitarian concept of God, found only in
Islam, in which Allah is considered as being uniquely one
in his essence, qualities and actions.
Narrated by Abu Said Al Khudri (Radhiallaho anho):
A man heard another man reciting (in the prayers): "Say (O
Muhammad): 'He is Allah, the One... (Sura Ikhlaas) And he
recited it repeatedly. When it was morning, he went to the
Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) and informed him about
that as if he considered that the recitation of that Sura by
itself was not enough. Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi
wasallam) said, "By Him in Whose Hand my life is, it is equal
to one-third of the Quran."
Bukhari Vol. 9 : No. 471
Narrated by Ibn Abbas (Radhiallaho anho):
When the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) sent Muadh to
Yemen, he (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said to him, "You are
going to a nation from the people of the Scripture, so let the
first thing to which you will invite them, be the Tauhid of
Allah. If they learn that, tell them that Allah has enjoined
on them, five prayers to be offered in one day and one night.
And if they pray, tell them that Allah has enjoined on them
Zakat of their properties and it is to be taken from the rich
among them and given to the poor. And if they agree to that,
then take from them Zakat but avoid the best property of the
people."
Bukhari Vol. 9 : No. 469
Narrated by Muadh bin Jabal (Radhiallaho anho):
The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "O Mu'adh! Do
you know what Allah's Right upon His slaves is?" I said,
"Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (sallallaahu
'alaihi wasallam) said, "To worship Him (Allah) Alone and to
join none in worship with Him (Allah). Do you know what their
right upon Him is?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know
best." The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "Not to
punish them (if they do so)."
Bukhari Vol. 9 : No. 470
Narrated by Jarir bin Abdullah (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "Allah
will not be merciful to those who are not merciful to mankind."
Bukhari Vol. 9 : No. 473
Narrated by Usama bin Zaid (Radhiallaho anho):
We were with the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) when
suddenly there came to him a messenger from one of his
daughters who was asking him to come and see her son who was
dying. The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said (to the
messenger), "Go back and tell her that whatever Allah takes is
His, and whatever He gives is His, and everything with Him has
a limited fixed term (in this world). So order her to be
patient and hope for Allah's reward." But she sent the
messenger to the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) again,
swearing that he should come to her. So the Prophet
(sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) got up, and so did Sa'd bin 'Ubada
and Mu'adh bin Jabal (and went to her). When the child was
brought to the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) his breath
was disturbed in his chest as if it were in a water skin. On
that the eyes of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam)
became flooded with tears, whereupon Sa'd said to him, "O
Allah's Apostle! What is this?" The Prophet (sallallaahu
'alaihi wasallam) said, "This is mercy which Allah has put in
the heart of His slaves, and Allah bestows His mercy only on
those of His slaves who are merciful (to others)."
Bukhari Vol. 9 : No. 474
Narrated by Abu Musa Al Ashari (Radhiallaho anho):
The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "None is more
patient than Allah against the harmful and annoying words He
hears (from the people): They ascribe children to Him, yet He
bestows upon them health and provision."
Bukhari Vol. 9 : No. 475
Narrated by Ibn Umar (Radhiallaho anho):
The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "The keys of
the unseen are five and none knows them but Allah: (1) None
knows (the sex) what is in the womb, but Allah: (2) None knows
what will happen tomorrow, but Allah; (3) None knows when it
will rain, but Allah; (4) None knows where he will die, but
Allah (knows that); (5) and none knows when the Hour will be
established, but Allah."
Bukhari Vol. 9 : No. 476
Womb: uterus; female mammal's organ holding the offspring before its birth.
Narrated by Masruq (Radhiallaho anho):
'Aisha said, "If anyone tells you that Muhammad has seen his
Lord, he is a liar, for Allah says: 'No vision can grasp Him.'
(Surah Al-An'am : Ver. 103) And if anyone tells you that
Muhammad has seen the Unseen, he is a liar, for Allah says:
"None has the knowledge of the Unseen but Allah."
Bukhari Vol. 9 : No. 477
Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "On the Day of
Resurrection Allah will hold the whole earth and fold the
heaven with His right hand and say, 'I am the King: where are
the kings of the earth?'
Bukhari Vol. 9 : No. 479
Abu Malik Ashjai (ra) quoted from his father who said:
'We used to sit in the company of the Prophet (pbuh) and I was still a samll
boy then. I did not see anyone observing silence more than the Prophet did.
Whenever the companions talked too much, the Prophet used to smile'
Al Haithami, Vol X p 298
Ubadah ibn Samit (ra) says:
That one day the Prophet came out and rode on his mule. His companions (ra)
accompanied him and none of them went ahead of him. Muadh ibn Janbal said, '
O Messenger of Allah! I pray that Allah cause me to die before your death.
Tell me if I survive after your death, and may Allah not show us such a day,
then which act should we do after your death?'. Muadh then asked the Prophet
if that act was jihad (fighting for the cause of Allah). The Prophet (pbuh)
said, 'Jihaad too is a good act. But cultivatingthe habbit of doing
something to strengthen The religion is far better than this.' At this Muadh
said, 'Is it fast and charity?'. The Prophet replied, 'The fast and charity
are too are good things or acts. But it is better to cultivate the habbit of
doing one thing which is more helpful to religion.' At this Muadh began
telling the Prophet about other acts of virtue and asking him if those acts
were better. The Prophet always told him that each of those acts was good;
but one thing which was more helpful to religion was the best of them all.
At this Muadh asked the Prophet which was that thing or habbit which he
should cultivate with other people. Then the Prophet pointed toward his
mouth and said, 'Silence is the best of them all. But not in good and
virtous matters'. Muadh then said, 'Shall we be held responsible for all
that which our tongues utter?' At this the Prophet patted on the thigh of
Muadh and said, 'May thy mother loose thee. Dont you know that on the day of
judgement many people will be dragged to hell by their nostrils and bellies
and will be put or hurled into it merely because of what their tongues had
uttered. A man who has firm faith in Allah and the last day says everything
good and vurtous or noble and observes silence will be saved from
destruction. You should utter every word that is good and should avoid evil
words then you will be quite safe fand immune (in the hereafter).
Tabrani and Al Haithami Vol X p 299
Abu Idris Khaulani (ra) says that:
Once he entered into the mosque of Damascus and there he saw a man whose two
teeth were visible. He observed silence too much. People accompanied him.
When there was any difference among the people, they sought and acted upon
it (i.e. his knowledge). On his asking he was told that the man was Muadh
ibn Jabal (ra).
Al Hakim Vol III p 269
Abu Wail (ra) says that:
Abdallah (ra) climbed up on the hillock of Safa, and holding his tongue
said, 'Always speak good words and thus collect musch good. Observe silence
in matters of evil and thou wilt be safe, before thou art forced to repent.'
Then he added further, 'I have heard the Prophet saying that most of the
sins of the offsprings of Adam were committed by the tongue'
Tabrani and Haithami Vol X p 300
Isa bin Uqbah (ra) said:
That Abdallahibn Masud (ra) is reported to have said, 'By Him Who alone is
worthy of worship on earth, no sin deserves severer and lengthier punishment
than the sins committed by the tongue'
Ibn Kathir, Vol II and al Hilyah Vol I p 134
Ali (ra) said:
'Tongue rectifies and keeps correct all other parts of the body. But when
the tongue falls into trouble and distress, then no organ or limb of the
body can work correctly'
Ibn Abi Dunya, in the chapter of silence
Ibn Umar (ra) said:
'The tongue of a man is entitled to be kept clean more than any other part
of his body'
Al Hilyah Vol I p 307
