Mermaid Dreams
by H. Williams

I dream I am a mermaid when in deep
I turn against the tides I can't oppose
I sing with every breath I take
drinking in riches from many worlds.
As I swim the many waters mingle,
as I live so many worlds collide
I sense disaster in the making
my actions pushing forward to a desert life…
If only I could be the ocean,
If only I could stretch so deep and wide,
If only I had riches like the sea,
I wouldn't have to be a mermaid
only when I dream.
