The Choice of Love

I left it behind on the red sunset.



A shattered heart in all it's pain.



It was easy to close my mind to that memory,

but was so hard to keep your smile from creeping back in.



Your love keeps returning to my weak heart,

embedding your soft kisses in my dreams,

a touch none can resist,

and a laugh equal to an angel's.



So? Shall I surrender unto you,

Give in to this, that will be my life?



Or will you release me to an earthbound peace?



Will you let my memory of our time together be one of love,

I pray you make it so if that is your wish.



If so,
then do your deed and make my heart yours,
our souls one,
our memories an eternity of togetherness,
solitary and complete.
