The Wait

I have stared into the black hole of this emptiness for so long.


Years, decades, forever?


A shadowy figure approaches, arms reaching forward.

Through the darkness the form appears, my eyes well with tears.


You call my name, and I respond 'Yes!'.


I waited for you my love,

as I swore I would on my death bed.

I've waited so long my dear,

to feel your hand clasping mine,

it's warmth filling my soul.


We are one now,

none may separate us or this consuming love.


Together we turn to the light,

the starry heavens awaiting our journey as one heartbeat.
