This summer Dr. Wells announced his pick for the "Best Marcher" award. This award takes place in the form of a unique white helmet that is passed from one marcher to the next. An award started by Dr. Wells, it's intent was to encourage students to work hard and strive for excellence.

This year this prestigious award goes to Senior Percussionist Kristi Lopez. Kristi is the lead snare in the marching band and is the section leader of the Pearl City Drum Line. Kristi was also feature in this year's half-time show playing the drum set for Y.M.C.A., Hawaiian War Chant, Tahiti Tahiti, the Samoan Slap Dance, and for Ameritone Paint Buckets of Fun. Kristi also playes the drum set in Pearl City's Stage Band I, the Pearl City Community Stage Band. She is also one of the top percussionists in Pearl City's own Wind Ensemble I.
